The Monoprice HDMI® Extender can extend an HDMI® video signal up to 30 meters over two Cat6 ethernet cables run through the walls. This unit supports all NTSC and PAL video resolutions up to 1080p with 24/36 bit Deep Color. It supports LPCM, Dolby®-AC3, DTS 7.1, and DSD audio signals. This is a passive device, so no power adapter is needed!

  • Support High Speed HDMI® signals (1080p)
  • Supports Deep Color
  • Passive, no power adapter required
  • FCC and CE Approved

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends the use of minimum 24 AWG HDMI® cables when connecting a device, such as this extender, between the source and destination devices to ensure minimal signal loss and maximum High Speed signal reliability.

Note: Although this extender will work with Cat5e UTP cables, Monoprice STRONGLY recommends using Cat6 STP cabling for anything longer than minimal distances. Cat6 STP cabling will provide the highest reliability and signal integrity to ensure that your installation is trouble-free under all conditions for years to come.

Requires the use of a low-voltage mounting brackets (one per wall plate). These are not included!

Good, but a problem or two

Pros: Great price and does work reasonably well

Cons: Some power problems with a couple of devices

We're using this in my house to run all of our gaming systems through one port to a projector. The first major hurdle we ran into was that the PS4 didn't want to give power to it. So we had to buy a 1 to 2 HDMI splitter that was powered to fix that issue. After that it worked just great, but if I were doing the set up again from the beginning I would get one of Monoprice's HDMI extenders that has its own power supplies.

Works as Expected

Pros: Works as expected, tested with 80ft of CAT6+ wiring. Clear signal with no distortion. Price was a huge plus, other sellers are asking for double the price for comparable units, but with what to gain? I would recommend this for all short distance extensions rather than running a 30+ ft HDMI cable. Clean professional looking install every time.

Cons: I didnt buy more

I read some comments and on particular comment regarding the life of one of these units. They claimed that the units stopped working one by one over 4 years. I do understand that if you do not turn off your TV/monitor regularly and the unit runs 24/7 the electronics will wear. If you are a true consumer using for approx 8hrs per day, then these should last 10+ years. The only explanation for the user who complained is plain and simple. YOU HAVE RATS! One by one your infested home is a breading ground for wire hungry rats. Try an exterminator and lets see how long that last extender works 8D.

Perfect way to extend HDMI across a room

  • T Park,

Pros: Can take HDMI signal across a room with no degradation in signal.
Easy to install

Cons: First unit didn't work. So maybe some units are duds.

I purchased this product two years ago, but didn't install it in the room until this month. It didn't work. I contacted Monoprice and they quickly replaced the product. After hooking up the new HDMI wall extender this weekend, I'm very happy to report it worked perfectly the first time.

Note: there is a transmitter unit and a receiver unit. Each Cat 6 cable needs to be plugged in to the respective jack and not crossed. Switching units or crossing jacks is very easy to do. If think something is wrong, first verify that your have everything set up correctly. I didn't have this problem, but since it's an easy mistake to make I wonder how many others are getting tripped up with this.

This experience reminds me that Monoprice is a solid brand, and they stand by their products. If something goes wrong, they will fix it.

Didnt work out of the box

I ordered the HDMI over Cat5/6 extender wall plates and they do not work. Ill tell you what I have done to test. First of all, I ordered all of the products to do this through you.

Checked to make sure that the plates were in the correct position, sender and receiver......... CHeck

checked the two 5' hdmi cables for functionality.............CHECK

Checked to make sure the CAT6 cables were in the correct positions on both ends, out 1 to in 1 and out 2 to in 2 one red one green cable... CHECK

took the tv I was trying to run the signal to up to the room directly where the sending signal was coming from, A directv receiver. I connected it to the directv receiver, via the HDMI cables purchased from you, and the TV works. Checked BOTH HDMI cables purchased from you... they both sent the signal to the tv with no issues...... CHECK

This narrows the problem to one of two things. Either one of the 50' CAT 6 cables that I ordered from you is bad or the HDMI wall plate extenders are non functional. you take that link out and everything works fine. I would venture to guess its NOT the cables. I have read reviews about the wall plate extenders and some say they have had issues with them. I was hoping I would not.

Hi Don,

I am truly sorry to hear that the wall plates are not working with the setup. Looking at this order, I see that the HDMI cables purchased were our Select Series which are 28AWG. Please note that we strongly recommend using 24AWG HDMI to ensure minimal signal loss as extenders tend to put a greater load on the signal. With thinner 28AWG cables, the signal may be too strained and since HDMI is a digital signal, it is either all or nothing. We also suggest using Cat6 STP (shielded) cables for long distances to prevent possible interference issues.

However, there are a few troubleshooting steps that we can try before switching out cables. First, can we power cycle the setup? To do this, first turn off all devices and then remove all the HDMI cables. Once you have removed them, please wait about 5 minutes then power the setup back on starting with the display and ending with the DirecTV receiver. Should that not work, please try different HDMI inputs on the display to see if any difference is made. Also, would it be possible to test the wall plates with short (~6ft) Cat cables outside of the wall? Please let me know your results from there so we can best resolve this issue. Thank you!

received replacements today, 8/29, they do not work either. I did notice this.... On my television, there is a little icon that floats on the screen that says " no signal". When I plug the HDMI into the plate that goes away, but still no picture, unplug the HDMI and it comes back again. its almost like its recognizing some sort of signal, but not what it needs for a picture,

Thank you for the update! Just to verify, were you able to try the troubleshooting steps provided above? If it is still not working after those steps, it is likely an issue with the cabling used in this setup, unfortunately. I would suggest switching to a 24AWG HDMI cable instead to help reduce signal strain. Please see PID 4966 for a 5ft 24AWG HDMI cable:

Or, if truly unsatisfied with the wall plates, I can assist you in setting up an RMA for a return as we offer a 30-day return policy with no restocking fee. If you would like to proceed with the return, please let me know and I will get that going right away. Thank you.
