Works (sometimes) if you fuss with it enough

Pros: Optical couplers hold the cables properly

Cons: Crappy plastic design that does not switch easily
Optics don't always line up so it doesn't pass the signal without fiddling

The pushbutton and the dial do move, but it doesn't always line up optically so you need to fiddle with it each time you move it.
The pushable "lock" gets jammed easily and the switch would probably be a lot better without it. I agree that this part of the design is poor. As long as you don't want to switch it very often and you can tolerate fiddling with it until you hear audio it might do the job for you.

    Pros: Mone

    Cons: No instructions.

This switch came with absolutely no instructions whatsoever. I could not get it to work. Instructions may have helped and may not have. Hard to tell. All in all it seemed like a piece of junk. Nothing should be sold without instructions.

    Cons: design and manufacture

product didn't work out of the box- dial will not rotate- worthless

    by Monoprice Administrator
    Hello Bill,

Thank you for your feedback and my apologies for the delayed response. In order to rotate the dial, you will need to depress the release button. There is a plunger style button on the end of the bar on the dial of the switch. Please try pressing the button and turning the dial until it clicks into the desired position. Sorry again for the trouble and I hope this helps!

Pros: Very low cost for what it does.
3 in and 1 out or 1 in 3 out. Just a mechanical switch.
    Cables fit tight and secure

    Cons: Plastics constriction.
Possible easy to damage if handled wrecklessly

This product had some bad reviews on construction quality. For the price, I thought "why not give it a try". I purchased it to use as a 3 in 1 out for my Resound "TV Streamer" hearing aid accessory. I think I would have preferred paying a little more for a sturdier product, however, I have not had any problems with this unit. Given the previous reviews, I operate this unit more cautiously than I would have otherwise. It is plastics construction, but seems to operate without problems, Be sure to engage the spring loaded lock before trying to turn. Wait for the 'detent' and release.. Simple as that. I don't know why this won't last a very long time.

    Pros: Performance, price

    Cons: Poor tactile feel

It worked fine out of the box, but didn't feel right. So a few screws and a light lube, it feels much better. The release button on the top of the lever, would be more ergonomic if you were squeezing it from the sides. Once released from its locked position and moved just a little bit, it will snap back when it is at its next position. A great solution to my infrequent optical sound switching needs.
