5 PAIRS OF High-Quality Gold Plated Speaker Banana Plugs, Open Screw Type

Banana plugs make speaker installation a breeze. They are designed for use with amplifiers or speakers that use traditional binding posts. Not only is it easier to make the connection on the back of your amp, it is safer, with no chance of stray wire strands creating a short across contacts.

These high quality plugs are the open screw type and can accept bare wire, spades, or other banana plugs. They are sized to fit speaker wire from 12 to 18 AWG. Each pair comes with one plug color coded red and the other coded black, for easy polarity identification.

The plug body is made of brass, which is then plated with gold to help prevent corrosion and ensure smooth connections.

This multi-pack includes five pairs of plugs, perfect for connecting the satellite and center channel speakers in a 5.1 channel setup.

    Features:

    • Can accept bare wire, spades, or other banana plugs
    • Can accept 12 to 18 AWG speaker wires
    • Color coded black/red rings for maintaining proper polarity
    • Secure, positive contact with binding posts
    • Corrosion resistant, 24K gold plated brass plug
    • Each order includes FIVE pairs (10 plugs total)

The following video shows the differences between the various types of banana plugs and includes a demonstration of how to install each type.

The gap left between the screw head and the plug is too big

Pros: Look good and good price

Cons: the gap left between the screw head and the plug is too big

I have used many brands of banana plug before but I wasn't very pleased with design of these. They look great but the gap left between the screw head and the plug is too big to fit thinner wires for a side open connection. The gap is also too big for a rear closed connection, you'll need to make big ball and make sure wire strands don't touch the thread. Hard to use rear connection with wires thicker than 14 AWG.

    No Lip on Collar

    Pros: Solid construction
    Good looking

Cons: Traditional rear collar mount is tricky

Unlike most closed screw type banana plugs, these do not have a lip on the collar- the threads go all the way to the top. This makes a traditional rear mount tricky as when you fan the wire strands out over the top of the collar, they fold backward on the threads and prevent tightening. To circumvent this, you have to leave the collar in the sleeve, insert the wire and try to fan the strands out through the side openings, then tighten.

So this open screw type is great for "T" connections (wire inserted through the side), but not very good for rear connections... Unless I'm an idiot and have overlooked a simple solution.
