    Hi-Fi Light Weight Over-the-Ear Headphone

For true noise-iolation and maximum sound quality, you really need a pair of "over the ear" headphones, like this lightweight model from Monoprice.

These headphones are ideal for portable applications when you want to get the best sound and really don't want to be interrupted by outside noises. They are vertically adjustable to about 1" on each side and fit close to the head. Combined with the light weight it means you can move around a bit and not have them fall off your head.

The earpieces are fitted with thick, comfortable padding which improve the fit against the side of your head and helps keep outside noises from interfering with your listening pleasure. A 50 mm driver and 102 dB sensitivity ensures that these phones produce good volume and clear sound reproduction at all frequencies.

The 47" cord is ideal for portable applications or for use with a laptop computer. The 3.5 mm plug is gold-plated for maximum conductivity and for improved resistance to corrosion over the more common tin- or nickel-plated types.

    Great Sound

    Pros: Great sound

Cons: Bass cuts off when pressure is applied to the outside cap
"Cheap" looking plastic (Don't know how durable it is yet)

I listen to Rock, Blues and Metal and these headphones sound great. My only problem with the headphones are if you put a little pressure on the outside cap of the headphone, the bass cuts out. I'd rate 5 stars if this wasn't an issue.
I bought these headphones to use on my guitar amp. I haven't tried in on the amp but I will post an update on how it sounds.

Pros: Cheap, got them quickly, better than earbuds.

Cons: Short cable, awful head pad, cheap and too bass-heavy sound.

I do video editing for my job, and I needed some headphones that weren't ear buds for audio editing. So, I figured I would check these out. The sound quality is alright, a little heavy on the lows, kind of "boxy" sounding, but they do the trick. Two gripes about these: 1.) The cable is ridiculously short, so it was snagging and yanking my head around when hooked to my computer, which is close enough for me to bump my knee on. I had to order an extension cable from Monoprice (which cuts out from time to time). 2.) The pad/top part of the headphones frickin hurts my head!! After wearing these things for 20-25 minutes, the top of my head starts hurting and itching pretty badly. Don't know if it's the material, or it's just too stiff, or what, but that really sucks.

They're alright for $20 headphones, just don't expect the cutting edge in sound quality or comfort.

Pros: Sound great. Comfortable. Great deal. Look nice.

Love these things. They're super comfortable and extremely affordable. The quality is great considering the price, and I've already used them on several sessions with vocalists who have also enjoyed them.

    Decent sound but poor durability

Pros: -sound quality, strong bass and mid-range without too much distortion.
-passive noise reduction, good insulation from external sound.

Cons: -poorly made plastic, lacks durability.

I've gone through 3 of these in the last year. The sound quality and passive noise reduction are a hit but the poorly made plastic pieces holding the earpieces to the headband break in the same spot every time. I'm not hard on my electronics in general. I've never broken a cell phone, camera, mp3 player, computer or set of headphones. These however seem to disintegrate through normal (gentle) use. I could only recommend these for the most careful and infrequent users who are out to save money but still want decent sound (very small demographic).

Pros: Sound and overall quality are excellent for the money. Permanently-attached cord (I've had a little trouble remembering to make sure the detachable cord on the DJ model is plugged all the way in).

Cons: There're a little uncomfortable for long sessions and the cord is somewhat short (1 meter). I didn't find a mini-to-1/4" adapter in the box.

I got these based on the Premium Hi-Fi DJ Style Over-the-Ear Pro Headphones that I've been using quite successfully as my primary phones for recording sessions. So when I went to order a couple more of the DJ ones I decided to try one of the hi-fi phones just to see. Both phones sound similar and, although I only did a quick test to see if they worked, the comfort level seems like it will be maybe a little better as the DJs are a little uncomfortable for long sessions the hi-fi one sounds about the same with maybe a little less bass, but that just means that they're maybe a little better balanced as the DJs are a little on he bassy side. Overall, just about as great a value as the DJ - I think I'll be quite happy with these and will know in time which to buy as replacements in the future.
