    It works and its cheap
I got this to use on my Procede V4 in my 335i and it works flawlessly. I haven't had any transfer time out or errors on a Windows XP machine. I haven't tried it with any other OS though. The only downside is the drivers CD. I don't know if the drivers can be downloaded in case I lose my CD.

    PROS: It works

    CONS: Driver CD

    As Advertised
I tried doing this several years ago and could not find an adapter that works. Once I got the COM port set to 1, re-plugged the cable in, it worked perfectly with the Pronto, which is no longer as obsolete as it was yesterday.

PROS: Works perfectly with my Pronto Remote

    I misplaced/lost the driver disc.

I tried the drivers from www.syba.com and from other sites posted by other reviewer. None of them work.

I plugged the cable into a Vista machine and Windows Vista found and installed the driver from Prolific Technology Inc. I went to the Prolific Technology site, downloaded and installed the driver from their site for XP. it works perfectly well. Here is the site

Beware if you are going to use this on a DirecTv HR-24 or H024. I bought this to control my DirecTv with serial commands. It worked flawlessly on my older HR-20 receiver. I got the new model HR-24 and the adapter no longer worked. It would work intermittently, and required a red button reset every couple hours. Same thing on my H-24 (non-dvr) Might be a DTV firmware issue. I tried monoprice item 2067 and had the same problem. I then tried the IOgear model the DTV recommends, and have had no issues, but it's 4 times the price.

    Works default in Ubuntu 12.04
    Works great, does as should!

PROS: I am typing this review with an ELO touchscreen hooked up with one of these, so I am definately pleased with the product. Mounted to /dev/ttyUSB0 with no configuration so it is a breeze to use. Once again, Monoprice has done it right with the cost of these.

    CONS: None

Used this cable with the gender changer to connect my ham radio to the computer. Could not find this elsewhere

    Needs correct drivers
Once you get drivers that work, it works as promised even in Windows 8.1 (It needs older drivers) I couldn't find them until I paid attention to the name in the image. Syba has drivers
