    Worked as Expected

I did not have any trouble. I don't think that I actually required any special drivers, but I think I installed drivers just to be safe. I didn't find that I needed the external power from the USB, but also left it hooked up anyway. I needed to add USB3.0 ports for a USB-to-HDMI display adapter, which is working.

Works great once you finally get it going

Pros: works just as it says it should. Added USB 3.0 speed to my laptop that didn't have any 3.0 ports.

Cons: you are on your own trying to set it up. Tech support barely helpful.

purchased this to add 2 USB 3.0 ports to my laptop which has an extra express card slot. Product arrived in good shape. Followed installation instructions in manual available on monoprice website. Downloaded the driver ver 1.5D from the monoprice website as it is the newest dated version. Ran the driver and the device was not recognized. Did not show up in my device manager. Re-ran the driver with the device power cord plugged in. Still not recognized. re-booted my machine, still nothing. Deleted driver and tried the older driver ver 1.3. This worked, device recognized, and I was good to go. But I wondered why the newer driver ver 1.5D wouldn't work, and if that meant that I was running my device at less than optimal conditions. So I chatted with tech support. After they asked me many irrelevant questions (like does my device has an expresscard port of course it does, I told them it was running with the ver 1.3 driver!), the tech support person finally told me that my Toshiba Satelite laptop running Windows home edition is not compatible with the ver 1.5D driver. It would be real nice if: 1) a note is put on the website saying not all machine/OS are compatible with 1.5D, and 2) if the tech support people would actually read the info we give them and not blinded ask us questions that make it clear they are following a script and not reading what we wrote. I love monoprice, but this was frustrated, and I expect better.

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 8090. If I may ask, what OS is that computer running? Can we try the ExpressCard with another computer or card slot just to see if that makes any difference? Also, has this been an issue since you first received the ExpressCard? Apologies again for any inconvenience and thank you in advance!

Finally a USB 3.0 Expresscard That Locks into Place!

Pros: - A USB 3.0 expresscard that finally locks into place!
    - Works as advertised!

Cons: - Very difficult to remove USB cable from port once inserted.

I was having problems with this item, but thank goodness I have a computer literate friend to help me out. Unfortunately, my laptop was so old that inserting the USB cord (for power) into the laptop's USB ports just made my computer freeze every time I tried transferring files. She told me to just plug the USB power cord in the hub from now on and the product now works like a charm!

Please correct item title - NOT PCMCIA, NOT CardBus

This item is NOT correctly described. Look at the photo to understand.
    This is an "ExpressCard" card.
That's NOT the same as PCMCIA nor is it CardBus.

It will only work with ExpressCard slots.
