32ft 2 Port USB 2.0 A Male to A Female Active Extension / Repeater Cable

Get three, three, three functions in one cable with the Monoprice USB 2.0 Active Extension/Repeater/Hub!

You can extend the length of your USB 2.0 cable an additional 32 feet with this cable. It comes with a USB A male connector on one end and a pair of USB A female connectors on the other.

When extending USB cables beyond about 15 feet, you can suffer from signal strength reduction. The further you go, the worse it becomes until you get poor (or no) valid connections. This cable includes a signal amplifier, which will boost the signal strength so you can extend further without signal loss. It draws on USB power to provide the boost or can use an optional AC adapter (PID 2220, not included) for the power it needs.

This cable is also serves as a 2-port USB hub. Each of the two USB A female connectors can connect to a discrete USB device and the cable will manage data signals in the same way as any other USB hub. The cable can be used as a passive hub or active, using the optional AC power adapter (PID 2220, not included) connected to the repeater unit, allowing the cable to drive power-hungry USB devices, such as portable hard drives or for phone charging.

The repeater unit has two LEDs, one to indicate when an external power source is connected and the other to indicate when a valid USB data link is established with one or both of the hub ports.

    The right solution

Pros: Perfect length. Adequate power for USB camera without using optional power supply.

    Cons: No cons experienced.

I am using this in an unpowered configuration to connect my HP dc7800 with USB 2.0 ports running iSpy to a USB camera with auto-switching IR lens and IR lights. The computer has a second USB camera connected on a different port as well. All of the wiring is indoors (except the last few inches) and the camera is mounted on the exterior of my house. After a couple of months things are still performing very well. A great solution for my setup.,

Excellent USB 2.0 alternative to pricy Cat5 extenders

    Pros: Work as described
    External or bus powered
    Great price

    Cons: None

I have been using expensive Cat5 USB 2.0 extenders for an interactive touch wall, and I wanted to try this as a cost-effective alternative. I put this and the 5V power supply (part 2220) in place and it worked like a charm. I then removed the power supply and the particular PC I'm using had enough USB bus power to support the touch interface without the external power supply. My initial testing is extremely positive. I have not yet implemented them in a long-term application but they're going into my next install, for sure. Highly recommended based on testing so far.

it works but the AC adapter is required

Cons: LEDs are too bright. I had to cover them with electrical tape.

I use my TV for gaming and using a wireless KB/mouse just wasn't cutting it so I purchased this USB extension cable so I could use a wired KB and mouse. When I first hooked it up I couldn't get anything to work on it. I tried several different keyboards and mice but the computer just wouldn't detect them. I then connected the "optional" AC adapter and everything started working. The description implies the AC adapter is only needed for "power-hungry" devices such as external drives. I don't consider a keyboard and mouse to be power-hungry yet they still required the AC adapter to work.

Pros: -It did what I needed.
-I was able to get at least 250mbps out of it with no power adapter.
-Better than the APC cat5 I was using before which was only USB 1.1

I needed a good 25ft to go from my HTPC to my theater seats where I have my mouse, keyboard, and two USB measurement mics. Works great as a charger for 3D glasses, cellphones and data transfers from SD card readers.
