82ft 25M USB 2.0 A Male to A Female Active Extension / Repeater Cable (Kinect & PS3 Move Compatible Extension)

Due to its design, USB cable has a normal maximum length of about 5 meters (16.4 feet), but you can get longer distances by using an active USB extension cable from Monoprice!

This is a bus-powered extension cable that can be used to increase the length of a device without any signal loss or potential performance problems. It contains active electronics, which boost the USB signal for maximum reliability and performance over extended distances.

The cable can be operated as self-powered extender, for use with USB cameras‚ printers‚ webcams‚ keyboard/mouse, etc. The optional application of DC power (via the DC power jack, use PID 2220) is designed for devices which need much power, such as USB hard drives, active hubs, high-power wifi networking devices‚ etc.

It is a true plug-and-play device. No additional drivers are required. It supports Windows® 98/2000/XP/Vista/7, Mac® OS X® v10.0 or higher, and Linux. It can also be used with many types of USB devices, including the Xbox® Kinect®* and the Eye of the PS3® Move!

* Important notes for Kinect users:

1. You can use this cable to connect the USB version of the Kinect only. It is not compatible with the proprietary Kinect connector. If you have a Kinect connector, please use PID 8487.

2. The Kinect requires more power than traditional USB ports are capable of providing. In order to prevent damage to equipment, Microsoft has designed the Kinect with a proprietary connector. If your Kinect did not come with a USB/Power adapter, you must purchase one from Microsoft before you can use this extension cable.

Works perfect for me

Pros: Works perfectly with HP Laptop (Windows 7) and X Air XR18 mixer.
82' + 12' USB "A" to "B" cable is more than enough length for my needs.
Isn't noisy next to long balanced mic cables.
Relatively light weight.

Cons: Not a "con" but a note: Be sure your cable path allows for the repeater module in the middle of the cable.

It took about 30 seconds for Windows to configure the drivers for this cable when I first plugged it in. After the first time it takes just two or three seconds for my PC to recognize the cable and the audio mixer at the far end. I'm getting rock solid audio streams, 24 bit, 18 in x 18 out, back and forth from my mixer. I'm in an RF noisy environment, and have Ethernet and balanced mic cables running alongside for 75'. No issues with cross talk, and no lost data. I'm really pleased.

Best ads-b cable ever

Pros: The cable allows you to mount a usb dongle tuner r820t or t2 in the mast and then have the usb cable feed the pc with 1090 ads-b data. Better than having a long run of coax and the dongle at the pc. Too much loss in that application. So to refresh you have an antenna/short jumper (antenna to mcx)/ dongle/ usb extender from monoprice/ pc. Then run your adsb or dump1090. Works awesome!

Cons: None found yet.

Great for in-wall run

Pros: * Quality
* Build
* Cost Effective

Cons: None

Works great with XBox360 powered USB. The female end has a red LED which turns on when I start the Xbox, so it seems even without adding additional power it would work. I wanted to try without inserting any power from Kinnect's USB attachment, but the only way to plug in is using the male USB attachment (and not the default orange connector) and using the power cord. Anyway. its the 89ft cable and I've put it in wall and works great. Been almost a year - no complains so far

Pros: I purchased 8 extra long (80', 65', 45', etc.) USB cables to add to each of the 10' cables that I purchased, one for each camera, and the pictures are perfect.

Cons: none

Not working on MAC???

Pros: Powered. Good quality cable. Worked instantly on a windows pc

Cons: did not work on an iMac with the latest OS..

I was really interested in this product to run an HD USB Web cam at the church. We broadcast via an iMac but unfortunately the iMac did not recognize the camera connected to the USB cable. I got a power light but no LINK light. I connected it to a Windows PC and it was recognized instantly.

Hello Bert,

Thank you for your review. Keep in mind you may need a powered USB hub if you are using this in conjunction with a high power device such as a webcam. I hope this helps, thank you!

I was plgging this directly into the iMac. That has power. I wasn't trying to go through a hub.

I have the power adapter for the USB cable already plugged in when testing this. And it worked on the PC, the iMac won't recognize the camera. It's a fairly new iMac failry hooked up with the latest OS and 8 GB of RAM etc..

Hello Bert,

Thank you for your response, I see it may be a incompatibility issue with that particular product. Have you tried seeing if it'll work on a older version of OSX and have you tried contacting Apple to see if there is a fix for it if its the new version that's having an incompatibility issue? I hope this helps, thank you!

I didn't think I would have to check that:

The description states as follows:

"It is a true plug-and-play device. No additional drivers are required. It supports Win98/2000/XP/Vista/7, Mac OS V9.0 or higher, and Linux."

I understand Or Higher to include the most recent OS. I doesn't state that it won't work past a certain version of the OS.

Wondering if I should just send this item back for a full refund. It's a shame. I was really hoping to use this item

I am going to test one more thing. I think friend has a Windows PC and might be able to use the cable. If anything, I will donate it to them.
