49ft 15M USB 2.0 A Male to A Female Active Extension / Repeater Cable (Kinect & PS3 Move Compatible Extension)

Due to its design, USB cable has a normal maximum length of about 5 meters (16.4 feet), but you can get longer distances by using an active USB extension cable from Monoprice!

This is a bus-powered extension cable that can be used to increase the length of a device without any signal loss or potential performance problems. It contains active electronics, which boost the USB signal for maximum reliability and performance over extended distances. The cable operates as self-powered extender, for use with USB cameras‚ printers‚ webcams‚ keyboard/mouse, etc.

It is a true plug-and-play device. No additional drivers are required. It supports Windows® 98/2000/XP/Vista®/7, Mac® OS X® v10.0 or higher, and Linux. It can also be used with many types of USB devices, including the Xbox Kinect®* and the Eye of the PS3 Move!

    * Important notes for Kinect users:

    1. You can use this cable to connect the USB version of the Kinect only. It is not compatible with the proprietary Kinect connector. If you have a Kinect connector, please use PID 8487.

    2. The Kinect requires more power than traditional USB ports are capable of providing. In order to prevent damage to equipment, Microsoft has designed the Kinect with a proprietary connector. If your Kinect did not come with a USB/Power adapter, you must purchase one from Microsoft before you can use this extension cable.

Note that the packaging indicates that this cable uses 26/22 AWG wires, however it actually uses 28/24 AWG wires as noted in the Features below.

    • USB A male to A female extension
    • Gold-plated connector
    • 28/24 AWG wires
    • Compliant with USB 2.0 High Speed (480Mbps) standard

    • Compatible with Windows 98/2000/XP/Vista/7, Mac OS X, Linux

49ft active usb extension for xbox 360 kinect

Have a projector setup and my xbox 360 is on opposite end of the projector screen. The Kinect was about 35 feet away from the xbox. I needed an usb extension cable that would be able to work with this length and with the kinect. Normally plain (non-active) usb extensions don't work more than about 15ft. So this active cable was the way to go and it worked great. It came well packaged and worked out of the box. Have had it for about a month now and no issues. at all.

Having trouble with scroll pad function on a Adesso keyboard

    Pros: works

    Cons: doesn't work

I have one computer with this extender cable plugged in, and an Adesso wired keyboard plugged into the extension. I can type with this setup, but the scroll pad/mouse pad does not work.

The same extender cable works with the mouse/keyboard function on three other computers I tested.

So I'm kind of stumped. Help?

Thank you for your review and sorry to hear of the issues you have experienced with PID 7532. Just to confirm, the same extender cable with the same adesso keyboard works on the other 3 computers just not the one you are needing to use it on? I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the keyboard on that computer. It sounds like there may be a driver issue if that is the case.

I got it to work, but I don't completely understand why.

I am using an Adesso model AKB-41OUB.

Anyway, I deleted all my USB, Keyboard and Mouse drivers and restarted to the CPU "A" using the "problem" keyboard. No success.

I replaced a "functioning" keyboard with the "problem" keyboard on CPU "A", and it worked.

I then plugged in the "problem" keyboard into PC "B" and PC "C" and I got the same error.

I tested three other keyboards, same model, and recreated the same error.

Then I grabbed a new keyboard, new out of the box, and it worked. wtf!!??

So I'm stumped, perhaps the used keyboards had some broken copper somewhere along the way.

Gotcha, the broken copper could be a possibility but I am glad you have got it to work. Should you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us!

Pros: Well, made and worked perfectly. Very suited for use with a webcam.

Cons: I like the thick wire but the thickness gave the cable a curved "memory" which might present problems for someone trying to fish it through a wall or use it in some other application in tight spaces.

Since forever, I've "known" that the max length for a USB cable was about 15 feet, so it was with some trepidation that I ordered this one for a special webcam application. (It was a Logitech HD cam attached to a Lenovo laptop). It worked perfectly, looking like the cam was 5 feet away instead of almost 50. The cable itself is substantial so there is little danger of kinking. Very pleased. Highly recommended!

Bought this to use with a wireless keyboard and mouse so I can control my computer from a different room. Using with the 7 port usb hub on monoprice and I have no issues with signal drop or mouse skipping.

Pros: This cable was purchased to replace a similar cable that failed after 3 months. It is the only cable I can find to extend a cell phone air card up the mast of a sail boat in order to extend the range. It worked fine for 3 months. It is the only cable I can find that will do the job.

Cons: Although the connections were never exposed to the weather as they were inclosed in tape and a plastic bag and the cable was only used for short times and then brought in and stored inside, Monoprice would not warranty it when it failed. Reason being not approved for outside use.

If I could find a better cable I would buy it.
