Select Active Series High Speed HDMI® Cable with RedMere® Technology, 30ft

Reliably connect your home theater equipment to greater distances than with passive cables using this Select Active Series High Speed HDMI® Cable with RedMere® Technology from Monoprice!

This High Speed HDMI Cable supports the following general features:

    • Active signal regeneration to ensure accurate reproduction over longer distances
    • 10.2Gbps data throughput
    • CL2 in-wall fire safety rating
    • 28AWG copper conductors
    • Gold plated connectors

It supports the following HDMI features:

    • 1080p resolution at 60Hz
    • 4K resolution at 24Hz
    • 3D video
    • HDMI Ethernet Channel
    • Audio Return Channel
    • Deep Color up to 16-bits per channel
    • x.v.Color™
    • High Definition Audio, including SA-CD, DVD-Audio, DTS-HD Master Audio™, and Dolby TrueHD™

Note that Active HDMI cables are directional. Check each end for markings indicating whether it should be connected to the source or the display device. Connecting them backwards will not hurt anything, they just won't work until connected properly.

Note also that only one Active HDMI cable should be present in any single cable run, even if using a switch, splitter, or matrix. Connecting multiple active HDMI cables in series will cause them to fail to reliably transmit the video signal because each is trying to do the same thing.

TIP: It is a good idea to test cables and connections before installing them inside a wall. If there are any issues or problems, we can help you resolve them before you spend the time, effort, and expense of installing them inside the walls.

Pros: One cable does it all.

    Cons: none

This cable allows me to stream my Amazon video, Netflix, home videos, ect, from my computer to my HDTV 16 feet away.... source to display is probably more like 18 feet .... without loss. Excellent so far!

Cable thickness is not displayed correctly

The picture shows the cable to be quite thin. The product is more like all of the other Select series cables. If you want something that looks like the picture, you need to order the ultra thin series.

Thoroughly test this cable before installing it behind sheetrock.

Pros: Pros: Thin and flexible, capable of making sharp bends around duct work etc.

Cons: Cons: Appears to have problems with high-density data content.

I purchased a 35 foot run of this cable back in 2010 from Monoprice to drive my wall mounted flat screen TV from a remote equipment cubby beneath a staircase. The cable works fine for up to 1080i resolution in my setup, but I found that I have random 1 to 3-second blackouts when handling 1080p content from a source like a blu-ray disc. I suspected the active cable as being the problem and I purchased a 40ft passive HDMI cable from Monoprice later in 2010 and used it to make the connection between my receiver and TV. It didn't have the problem with 1080p content., but it is a great deal thicker and stiffer than the Redmere cable. I did not test the Redmere cable thoroughly before enclosing it in the wall and ceiling cavities with drywall, my mistake, and I have been living with it. However, with the blackouts occurring more frequently as the cable ages I am thinking I really need to bite the bullet and pull that thicker passive cable I have through to my equipment cubby. I personally would never buy this type of cable again.

Just barely lasted one year - not happy

This is the second set of cables I have purchased from monoprice. Unfortunately, I have to replace them AGAIN, the cables I am providing this review on have now stopped working correctly. They do not support the high end audio/video feed to my receiver so my TV is not correctly displaying the video signal as it breaks down constantly and the audio signal keeps skipping. I am using a cheap cable right now between my cable box and the TV with no issue. Very upset that I have to again run new cables through the wall...

    Hello Gary,

Thank you for your review and sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing with PID 9170. If I may ask, is the cable being connected from the receiver directly to the TV or does it happen to plug into any wall plates then a separate HDMI cable to the TV?

The reason I ask is that the end labeled Display is intended to be plugged into the input on a display. When plugged into HDMI wall plates or other devices it is prone to experience issues.

Pros: I've been using this for over a year and a half, and no issues what so ever!

    Cons: None!

I bought this having no clue that this sort of HDMI cable even existed... So I was a bit hesitant to buy it, but after almost a year and a half this thing I gotta say it delivers on its promise of "being a LONG functional HDMI cable."
