2m 28AWG External Mini SAS 26pin (SFF-8088) Male to Mini SAS 26pin (SFF-8088) Male Cable - Black

Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) is a high-speed data storage interface designed for high-throughput and fast data access. Intended primarily for data storage centers, the SAS interface is backwards compatible with SATA. This allows the user to mix more expensive, lower-capacity SAS drives for applications that require faster data access and higher reliability, with lower-cost, higher-capacity SATA drives for applications with lower access speed requirements. Monoprice carries a full line of quality SAS cables with connectors for every possible application, both internal and external.

This 2 meter long cable uses 28 AWG wires and is intended for external use. It has a 26-pin SFF-8088 male Mini-SAS plug (with release ring) on each end.

Pros: price, value, solid connection to devices

Using a couple of these cables to connect an HP p411 SAS card to LTO 5 and 6 tape drives. Works as expected. Snug fit to devices. Replaced OEM cables that were damaged during an equipment move.

SFF-8088 SAS Cable

Pros: Well made material (for the most part)
No issues with RAID bit corruption (would be fairly evident in a cheaper constructed cable)
Good attachment mechanism, the retaining clamp ensures the cable stays in place.

Cons: One of the first cables retraction mechanism failed. To Monoprice's credit, they cross-shipped me a new cable, and a pre-paid postage return label.

These cables seem to be pretty much the same thing you would pay $80-100 for normally (which I have done in the past). I decided to give these Monoprice cables a try (given the past positive experience) and thus far they have not disappointed.
I have had the cables for 3 months now, and there have been no problems. The replacement cable has not shown the same weakness that was in the previous cable I returned.
