1m 30AWG Internal Mini SAS 36pin (SFF-8087) Male w/ Latch to SATA 7pin Female (x4) Forward Breakout Cable - Black

Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) is a high-speed data storage interface designed for high-throughput and fast data access. Intended primarily for data storage centers, the SAS interface is backwards compatible with SATA. This allows the user to mix more expensive, lower-capacity SAS drives for applications that require faster data access and higher reliability, with lower-cost, higher-capacity SATA drives for applications with lower access speed requirements. Monoprice carries a full line of quality SAS cables with connectors for every possible application, both internal and external.

This 1 meter long cable uses 30 AWG wires and is intended for internal use. It has a single 36-pin SFF-8087 male Mini-SAS plug (with locking latch) on one end and has four 7-pin SATA female plugs (with locking latches) on the other, allowing you to connect four SATA drives to an SAS controller. This is a Forward Breakout cable, meaning that it is intended to connect to a host/controller on the SAS end and to drives on the SATA end.

    SAS 8087 forward breakout cable
high recommend for those interested in large NAS units with SAS raid card with the 8087 connector

PROS: excellent product, you can cut the protective mesh to get more slack on the individual connectors. Excellent value compared to other brands at $30

    CONS: None

perfect for it's uses. designed for very large cases
recommended for anyone who actually needs this length and interface combination.

far better than buying overpriced cabling elsewhere.

    PROS: Price!

    Durability

    CONS: None

    Working great so far!
For the price, you can't go wrong with these. I have 2 of these connected to my HighPoint RocketRaid 2720 controller. I have 2 arrays defined with these (a RAID-0 and a RAID-5) and have absolutely no issues. The RAID-0 are two SATA 6Gb/s SSD drives so if I were going to have issues with these cables, that array would be the first to complain.

PROS: Inexpensive, plenty of length for very large cases, metal clips on both the SATA connector as well as the SAS connector.

CONS: Longer than you might expect. I had to coil it up behind my motherboard plate.
The SATA wire that leaves the conduit and goes to the SATA connector is actually two small ribbons. I could see where these might be more fragile than a traditional SATA cable.

Shipping costs are starting to get a bit too high on some of MonoPrice's stuff.

    Awesome product for the price
Good quality product at an awesome price this is what makes Monoprice great. Shipping was nice and fast (only paid for the slowest which is usually an extra 2 days from other vendors in same location as monoprice) Will be a repeat customer! No to just check out those nice OLED IPS displays :)

PROS: Price is the biggest pro. Quality is very good (not great but hence the price) Will buy more when needed

    CONS: None really

    Perfect choice
I've been using those cables between IBM M 1015 and SATA disks. I have six of those cables in total. Never experienced any issue with them. They latch very well on both sides.
Quality product with a good price tag.

    PROS: good quality
    good price
    does everything as expected

    CONS: none

These SAS break out cables work!
    4/5

PROS: I have bought three. All Channels work. These cables are delicate, but you are also not paying mush $$.

I will buy more. You should as well.

    Shame
All in all a good cable, had to replace it with a cable that costs 3 times as much just so i can have sgpio for the backplane health monitoring

PROS: Works as advertised, good length, good sleeving

CONS: Doesn't have the sgpio (sideband) connector - the right angle sff-8087 cable on here has sgpio, why not this one :(

Here's hoping someone at monoprice is reading this!
