This Monoprice cable rises to the challenge without adapters and extra cables and does it at a price that makes you wonder how they stay in business. It's a direct connection between technology that literally spans centuries. Don't let the light weight fool you. I had a few concerns when I connected my MacBook Pro to the VGA wall jack in our church. Lightweight cables are notorious for dropping signal, especially over a 15 foot run. At first, the image appeared on only one of the two screens, but after a reboot during which the gear could get to know each other better, everything fell into place. Even the most spectacular transitions and animations in Keynote and PowerPoint play back without stutters, dropouts or the dreaded Blue Screen of Lost Signal.

I would expect that the shorter versions of this and the regular displayport (not mini) version would all work as active adapters as well. I hope this is helpful to someone, and that Monoprice will correct the description for these items.
PROS: Active adapter and cable rolled into makes for a steal of a deal, even by Monoprice standards.
It is an active adapter. (Or at least has a DAC in it, not just VGA passthrough.) Will work with Eyefinity setups, 3 or more monitors on a single Displayport equipped graphics card, etcetera.
CONS: None that I'm aware of
PROS: Super long, allowing me to move the monitor to wherever I want when viewing multimedia, without having to also move my computer (which is plugged into the surround sound system). Durable, thick cable.
CONS: White, which is both a pro and a con. Screws seem to be too short to thread into the monitor it is unclear if this is faulty design on the monitor's end or on the cord.
PROS: Well-constructed, length, price, reliability
PROS: Plenty of length, which makes connecting up to devices that aren't so close pretty convenient. Nice connectors for both the VGA and Thunderbolt side of the cable.
CONS: While not a con of the product it's self, at first there was a slight issue with static appearing from the projector. It turns out that I needed to install the Thunderbolt Software Update 1.1. This completely resolved the issue.
PROS: You don't have a clunky connection right beside the machine. It can be hidden under the desk.
cable makes appearance sleek.
connector has held up to abuse
cheaper price and more versatile than Apple adapter
CONS: no cons right now
PROS: Monoprice consistently has the best stuff at the best price! Highest Quality!
PROS: Just plug and play.
PROS: Works first time, everytime.
