Do not work properly / Wast of money

Pros: Good for a single connection

Cons: These cables do not work in my situation and are useless to me. But, probably not worth paying to ship them back.

We run 4 monitors for each desk and use (4) DVI cords with (2) of them having a Mini Display Port Adapter on them. Thought this cable would be a good alternative to having a cable that is connected to an adapter. The adapter work but are not as thick as the DVI cable so long term the adapter cord wears through to exposed wires. Hence, let's go to a single cord. But, I Windows 7 will not let me use these cords in replace of a cord and adapter. Makes no since. They do work as a single unit plugged in but not multiple. Not sure of issue. But, since they where so cheap not worth paying to return them.

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 6001. If I may ask, can you explain to me your setup(s) being used with these cables? Are there four computers being connected to four separate monitors? Are the monitors being daisy-chained? What are the makes and models of the monitors and the video card(s)? Please let me know so we can look into this issue further or we also offer tech support via live chat if quicker communication is needed. Thank you in advance!

We use the AMD Radeon HD 6800 video card with (4) monitors. On the Radeon HD 6800 video card we use the (2) DVI outputs and (2) mini display port output. On the (2) mini display ports we have used your mini display to DVI adapters. We then use the DVI connection on those (4) monitors. This works fine for (8) computer we have set up.

Problem is when we trade out a single cord for your mini display to DVI cord. This throws the system into an error and we can not use all 4 monitors. Does not mean we can not use the monitor using that cord just that it gets all screwed up and the 4 monitor setup no longer works. My best guess is small gauge or all the connectors are not working. Don't know. The cords are the issue. Have tried several scenarios and different cords.

Great, thank you for the response and extra info! Just to verify, were you looking to achieve an Eyefinity setup? Or are the monitors set up in basic extended or duplicated mode? Have you tested the setup with other modes to see if the issue persists? Also, do you happen to have the PID (Product ID) of the adapters being used or know if they are active? Thank you!

I have used this setup starting from Windows XP to Windows 7 and have for many years.

If you look my account up you will see the adapters I bought from you. Since, your system only allows me to look up recent past 2 orders I can not give you the adapter part numbers. Which by the way is so odd that a tech company like your self does not allow me to see all items I have purchased or all orders. It is an issue sometimes. Is there a good reason why you don't want customer's to know what they have purchased when logged in?

As for as other modes. I have tested this on 2 different computers with many modes and cables and setups before giving up and deciding you sold me a bad product.

XFX Adapter 78656-05379 MA-AP01-ND1K ATI Eyefinity Multi-Display Validated

    by Monoprice Administrator
I see. Unfortunately PID 6001 is a passive cable and does not support Eyefinity which sounds like it may be the issue here. The cable is unable to translate the signals between the graphics card and the monitors for this particular instance, while the adapter being used is an active adapter specifically intended for Eyefinity setups. My apologies again for the trouble and hope this helps.

Works with minor issues on my set-up

    Pros: Available in multiple lengths
    Flexible cable
    Good image quality

Cons: Doesn't correctly go into power save on my Dell 2001FP.

I am using this cable between my Gigabyte GV-R928XOC-3GD REV2 Radeon R9-280X video card and my older Dell 2001FP monitor on Windows 7 with the latest AMD Catalyst drivers. It mostly works great except that my monitor will never go completely into power save mode. When the computer blanks the screens for power save, the monitor flips back and forth between a blank screen and briefly flashes a sync error message and then goes blank again. Based on my research, this could be a problem with the cable but it is a controversial topic on many hardware support forums. I removed a point due to this, but overall it is a solid cable for a low price.

    Pros: works like a charm

Cons: it turns out that I need another video card to run the monitor

I like it because it doesn't need an adaptor.

I had to return 4 of these, then I found an alternative

    Pros: none

Cons: didn't get any to work

My review for this product is negative BUT my customer service review is 100% positive. Monoprice made me a happy returning customer. I ordered 1 of these 15ft cables and it did not work, it was extremely fuzzy and cutting in and out constantly. I requested a exchanges, MONOPRICE sent me a new one free of charge and with out the hassle of me having to send back the defected one. The replacement one didn't work, so they sent another, then again...aaaaand one more, UPS overnight, free of charge. None of them worked...4 defects.

I gave up and bought: Mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt® to HDMI®, DVI & DisplayPort Adapter and 15ft 28AWG Standard HDMI® to DVI Adapter Cable

WORKS PERFECT! I order tons of other stuff that all works amazing, unbeatable prices.

    Resolution issues

Cons: Poor bandwidth, unable to handle HD resolution

We bought several of these to use an extended graphic display with iMacs. When outputing a 1920x1080 resolution there was a loss of clarity and detail in the signal, reduced saturation, and occasionally digital "sparkle", indicating poor quality and bandwidth. If we change the resolution to 1280x720, or lower, the signal seems to stabilize. I would not recommend these cables to anyone wanting HD quality.

Thank you for your review. And I am truly sorry to hear of your experience you have had with this product. We will be taking your review into consideration so we can look into the PID#. Thank you for your understanding and patience in the matter.

For now, if you prefer, I can assist you in setting you up for a replacement on the item if you haven't done so already. We do warrant our non-electronics and cables with a lifetime warranty as well as a 1 year warranty for electronics. It will be of no additional cost to obtain a replacement, so please let me know if you want to continue. I would just require your order# to set it up. Alternatively, if you are truly unsatisfied of the item I can assist you in setting up a return. Thank you!

    Hey John,

Sorry it took so long to get back. I would still like to exchange these, if possible. Have you done any R&D on the bandwidth of these cables? I am curious if the 10' version of this type is a little more stable.

Please let me know if I can still return these, and how to proceed.

    by Monoprice Administrator
    Hello Rick,

Thank you for your response, you wanted to return all 4 correct. Unfortunately while we do get periodically new batches, we have the same cables, unless they get a new revision. Which is different from a new batch. If we get a newer revision then that means there is changes to the product. Nonetheless, let me know and I can assist you in setting this up for a return for store credit. Thank you!
