Allows me to use an old iMac as an external monitor for my Mac Pro.

It's a cable. It works. It's cheap. What more do you want?

Pros: Inexpensive. Functional. Extremely Cable-y.

Cons: There is no icon printed on the cable so determining "up" can be a trial and error process. This isn't a big deal if you pull it in and forget it, but I use it with a laptop and connect and disconnect it often.

Perfect for iMac in Target Display Mode

Pros: Worked great for connecting a few PCs and MacBook Pro to my 27" 2009 iMac which support target display mode. Remember folks, a Thunderbolt cable is not the same as a Mini DisplayPort cable. The newer iMacs only support Thunderbolt cables for Target Display mode and the 2009/2010 iMac only support Mini-DisplayPort.
