    Access™ Series 18AWG CL2 Rated 4-Conductor Speaker Wire, 100ft

Get the most out of your home audio system with high quality, oxygen-free, pure bare copper speaker wire from Monoprice!

This speaker wire features four conductors made of high purity (greater than 99.95% pure), oxygen-free bare copper. Pure Bare Copper is a superior conductor to the copper clad aluminum (CCA) conductors used in most other inexpensive speaker wire. CCA is only about 68% as conductive as pure bare copper. This additional resistance is added to the impedance of your speakers and can negatively effect the sound.

For the wire to have no audible effect, the total wire resistance should be no more than 5% of the lowest impedance of your speakers. Even speakers rated for a nominal 8-ohms, may dip to as low as 4-ohms at some frequencies, which further reduces the total cable resistance allowed in the wire. Using Pure Bare Copper speaker wire ensures that the total load put on the amplifier remains as close as possible to the impedance curve of your speakers.

For example, a 16AWG 2-conductor Pure Bare Copper speaker wire has a total resistance of 1.636 ohms per 100 feet (both directions must be considered). By comparison, a 16AWG 2-conductor CCA speaker wire has a total resistance of 2.406 ohms per 100 feet. Assuming 4 ohms is the lowest impedance of your speakers, a speaker wire run can be no more 0.2-ohms total. 10 feet of Pure Bare Copper would be 0.1606 ohms, well under the 0.2-ohm limit. On the other hand, 10 feet of CCA would be 0.2406 ohms, well OVER the 0.2-ohm limit.

Each conductor is jacketed with color-coded PVC for easy polarity identification. The entire cable assembly is jacketed in a white, CL2-rated PVC material. The CL2 rating indicates that the cable complies with fire safety and insurance requirements, making it safe for use inside the walls of residential class buildings.

    Good overall satisfaction

Pros: This 'audio' cable serves well for my two-output power supplies. The 18 wire is heavy enough for minimal voltage loss with a four foot length under load but is very flexible and easy to work with. Your website offered the best price and beat Amazon! This cable takes solder well and the insulation doesn't shrink when heated.

Cons: I've ordered this cable several times and two differences were apparent: 1. the thickness of the outer jacket was different, and 2. the red and black wires were together on some spools and adjacent in others. This is an annoyance when installing connectors as the wires must be crossed over in a tight space. Both of these are minor and of little consequence. Neither would prevent me from buying this cable in the future.

When you get what you pay for, it's a bargain. I've been pleased with all my purchases of your cable. The website is confusing, however. I had to enter data three times before I could complete my order. It would get "stuck" on a page with no way to continue... frustrating!

    Pros: Great cable.
Clean with the right color coding for easy whole home audio installation.

Great cable at an unbeatable price. Monoprice is the only place I buy cables anymore because they make the exact same product for a fraction of the price. Copper is copper, people. You can't go wrong with Monoprice cables.

Pros: clean sound, quality copper, flexible enough for my needs.

    Cons: none per intended purpose.

im using this to make headphone cables for my hifiman cans. the cables are fractions of a mm too fat to fit in my smc connections but can easily be shaved with a razor. next time ill get the next size down. no complaints for the cables intended purpose. would have given 10/10 if inner shielding/insulation was just a hair slimmer. average joe wont have this issue.
