    Access™ Series 14AWG CL2 Rated 2-Conductor Speaker Wire, 500ft

Get the most out of your home audio system with high quality, oxygen-free, pure bare copper speaker wire from Monoprice!

This speaker wire features two conductors made of high purity (greater than 99.95% pure), oxygen-free bare copper. Pure Bare Copper is a superior conductor to the copper clad aluminum (CCA) conductors used in most other inexpensive speaker wire. CCA is only about 68% as conductive as pure bare copper. This additional resistance is added to the impedance of your speakers and can negatively effect the sound.

For the wire to have no audible effect, the total wire resistance should be no more than 5% of the lowest impedance of your speakers. Even speakers rated for a nominal 8-ohms, may dip to as low as 4-ohms at some frequencies, which further reduces the total cable resistance allowed in the wire. Using Pure Bare Copper speaker wire ensures that the total load put on the amplifier remains as close as possible to the impedance curve of your speakers.

For example, a 16AWG 2-conductor Pure Bare Copper speaker wire has a total resistance of 0.803 ohms per 100 feet (both directions must be considered). By comparison, a 16AWG 2-conductor CCA speaker wire has a total resistance of 1.181 ohms per 100 feet. Assuming 4 ohms is the lowest impedance of your speakers, a speaker wire run can be no more 0.2-ohms total. 20 feet of 16AWG Pure Bare Copper would be 0.1606 ohms, well under the 0.2-ohm limit. On the other hand, 20 feet of 16AWG CCA would be 0.2362 ohms, well OVER the 0.2-ohm limit.

Each conductor is jacketed with color-coded PVC for easy polarity identification. The entire cable assembly is jacketed in a white, CL2-rated PVC material. The CL2 rating indicates that the cable complies with fire safety and insurance requirements, making it safe for use inside the walls of residential class buildings.

    Great wire for the cost

Pros: The copper strains are well built and almost too thick for the closed banana plugs, but they do work well.

I purchase 50-ft and plan to buy more as i start purchasing more speakers for my 9.2 channels in my living room, and even have the option on my receiver to and 2 more zones in my house.

Cons: Not really, Not for the price.....

Nice outer PVC jacket, that houses the two or four wires. the jacket on individual wires are thick as well.

You need to balance the price and quality of the speaker wire, and these are well worth the price for the beginner/novice audio enthusiast and even the intermediate enthusiast as well.

As of 10/01/2016, My system includes: Marantz SR7009 receiver, Polk RTi12, Polk CSi A6 Center and Polk PSW505 sub. As time progresses I will purchase more Polk speakers to complete a 9.2 or 11.2 surround sound system

Pros: Jacket has part number and LINEAR FEET printed on the outside, so if you need 10 feet you can just count off the markers on the jacket. Very useful for matching speaker runs

Cons: Coating on inner conductors feels a little thick. The PVC is very tough, which is a plus and a minus since it makes it a little stiffer than it could be. Would rate a 4.5 if I had the option.

Good quality 2 conductor 12 ga wire in PVC jacket.

Pros: decent quality robust and well constructed

    Cons: none

    Gosh 250ft is heavy!
plumbed the stuff for two outdoor speakers on my new patio back to my Yamaha dual zone amp.
works a treat- very pleased just a bit cross with myself as I ordered waaaay too much cable- less than 100ft would have been fine. will just have to find some more projects for audio in the house-

Using this cable to make solid long extensions.

    Pros: Flexible, easy to use

    Cons: None so far

Used 500 ft. of the 4 conductor for a whole house audio job and needed a little more to finish up two outdoor speakers so I got this roll to match. It's just as good as the 4 conductor, recommended.
