Premium S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Cable, 15ft

Experience superb sonic clarity and accurate musical reproduction with this Premium S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Cable from Monoprice!

The Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format provides for a Digital Optical Audio signal, commonly referred to as Toslink. Toslink allows for the distribution of uncompressed 2-channel PCM audio or compressed multichannel audio, such as DTS® or Dolby® 5.1 or 7.1. Being an optical signal, Toslink is immune to problems that can plague electrical signals, such as crosstalk, magnetic interference, or radio frequency interference.

This premium cable features a full-sized Toslink connector on each end, with metal connector heads and a metal mesh jacket. The metal jacket helps protect the cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks, which could cause damage to the internal optical fiber.

    Features:

    • Full-sized male Digital Optical Audio (Toslink) connectors at each end
    • Heavy duty premium, square metal connector heads
    • Mesh metal jacket protects cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks
    • 8.0mm outside diameter
    • Gold plated ferrule resists corrosion and provides maximum protection for the connector tip
    • Precision polished fiber tips for maximum signal transfer

Important! Because of the shape of the connector heads, this cable will not fit the Xbox 360 S "Slim" models, which are the smaller form-factor models released after June 14, 2010. For the Xbox 360 "Slim", please use one of our standard Toslink cables with molded connectors instead.

This looks like a good quality optic cable should last a long time.

    Pros: Solid build
    Inexpensive
    Proper fit

    Cons: None

    1. Rip 443 CD collection to desktop PC using WAV format (237 artists, 5000 songs, 345 hours of music).
    2. Spend under $20 for 25 ft. optical cable to connect desktop PC to A/V receiver.
    3. Play hours of music.
(There are other options for getting CD quality sound to the A/V system but all cost more than $20.)

Pros: Very inexpensive! Easy to use! Better sound clarity than conventional 6-channel connection!

    Cons: NONE!

I love these new Logitech Z906 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers that I recently bought!

I am Just sitting here listening to Pink Floyd on the new speakers I bought for my PC. I initially had a problem with no sound via the toslink cable. So, I did some googling on the problem I was having. The problem turned out to be a very simple setting in the Windows Control Panel "Sound" option. I had to set the "default device" to "Digital output (Optical)".

What a big difference between the digital toslink cable and the 6-channel method using three stereo cables that I was using on my old Z5500 speakers. The volume is a little bit louder and the stereo imaging is much more defined with the toslink cable,

I can hear subtle sounds that I have never heard in music that I've listened to many times. The heartbeat intro on Pink Floyd's Speak To Me / Breathe on their Dark Side Of The Moon album makes things on my desk vibrate. I never had that with my old speakers (Z5500) - even at high volume.

If you have the option, definitely use a this toslink cable.

I have not had this cable for very long, but upon arrival I was extremely surprised on the build quality of this cable. I have this running along the floor behind my desk, and I have zero worries that I will kink/break/cut/etc this cable. The weakest point on this sort of setup is going to be the connection ports themselves on your devices. Definitely consider this cable.
