Premium S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Cable, 75ft

Experience superb sonic clarity and accurate musical reproduction with this Premium S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Cable from Monoprice!

The Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format provides for a Digital Optical Audio signal, commonly referred to as Toslink. Toslink allows for the distribution of uncompressed 2-channel PCM audio or compressed multichannel audio, such as DTS® or Dolby® 5.1 or 7.1. Being an optical signal, Toslink is immune to problems that can plague electrical signals, such as crosstalk, magnetic interference, or radio frequency interference.

This premium cable features a full-sized Toslink connector on each end, with metal connector heads and a metal mesh jacket. The metal jacket helps protect the cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks, which could cause damage to the internal optical fiber.

    Features:

    • Full-sized male Digital Optical Audio (Toslink) connectors at each end
    • Heavy duty premium, square metal connector heads
    • Mesh metal jacket protects cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks
    • 8.0mm outside diameter
    • Gold plated ferrule resists corrosion and provides maximum protection for the connector tip
    • Precision polished fiber tips for maximum signal transfer

Important! Because of the shape of the connector heads, this cable will not fit the Xbox 360 S "Slim" models, which are the smaller form-factor models released after June 14, 2010. For the Xbox 360 "Slim", please use one of our standard Toslink cables with molded connectors instead.

    Good value
If I don't have any long term issues, this cable is an amazingly good deal.

    PROS: Cheap, reasonable quality

    CONS: None so far.

This is an amazing cable. It works, the zeros, and ones get there, but that is not what makes this cable great. It's construction is terrific. I could go repelling with this cable. It's metal construction makes nearly impossible to bend and permanently damage. I've accidentally set down heavy antique furniture with tiny metal casters on the cable, and it's fine. Lastly, a couple of people have actually commented on how cool and professional the cable and they assume it casts over a hundred dollars.

Additional Info:I actually only bought the 25' cable, but I believe these are all the same quality.

75ft PREMIUM Optical Toslink Cable w/ Metal Fancy Connector
The company had what I was looking for and the price was very good. The cable appears to be of very good quality and the order arrived on time. The cable is as advertised. I can't wait to move into my new house and turn on the TV. Thank you.

PROS: As advertised. Arrived on time. Very good quality.

CONS: Preferred a 65" length but for the price this is not an issue.

75 foot toslink cables when used in high heat attic
    5/5

PROS: At first I ran component cables with copper audio through the attic. This worked until the outside temperature got over 90 degrees in Texas. Picture was okay but the sound would go out as the day heated up and would start working again late in the afternoon as the temperatures cooled down. Bottom line, copper looses signal strength over long runs at high temperatures.
At first I bought copper audio cables thinking copper would be more reliable for a long run. Obviously heat effected the cable.
Then I bought this 75 foot toslink cable to replace the 75 foot copper audio cables. Ran the toslink through the attic and the sound has not failed at all. Great reception.
Outside temperatures this summer in Texas got over 108 degrees. No failure.

Previously, I had run high quality copper HDMI cables with boosters to 5 HDTV's through the attic. HDMI worked until the temperature got over 90 degrees outside. Then the sound and the picture quit working.
Bottom line for long runs: I would recommend component video cable with toslink cables where high temperatures might be an issue. Appears to be no loss in picture or sound quality.
Thanks Monoprice for outstanding service, quality cables, and great valve.

    CONS: none

Very solidly-built cable works perfect to bring audio from one satellite receiver to my surround sound setup in another room. Metal shielding around it definitely helps prevent physical damage since it's next-to-impossible to kink it, etc.

I use this cable for the audio return channel from my TV to the media room 60 feet away. The cable pulls really well because of the metal jacket and it clips really well into the wall plate. I have no concerns about it falling out in the wall. I patched both ends to a wall plate and used shorter cables for patching to the TV and receiver. The entire run works perfectly. I have a total of 85 feet of optical cable between the TV and the receiver with 2 wall plates in the middle.

PROS: Really nice cable. Connectors snap securely in place. Wire mesh jacket makes it really easy to pull through walls.

CONS: Would have preferred a 60 foot version...

With quality of this caliber at a fraction of the price of retail stores, I will NEVER order from anywhere else as long as the shipping, prices, and quality stay at this level!
