Premium S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Cable, 50ft

Experience superb sonic clarity and accurate musical reproduction with this Premium S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Cable from Monoprice!

The Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format provides for a Digital Optical Audio signal, commonly referred to as Toslink. Toslink allows for the distribution of uncompressed 2-channel PCM audio or compressed multichannel audio, such as DTS® or Dolby® 5.1 or 7.1. Being an optical signal, Toslink is immune to problems that can plague electrical signals, such as crosstalk, magnetic interference, or radio frequency interference.

This premium cable features a full-sized Toslink connector on each end, with metal connector heads and a metal mesh jacket. The metal jacket helps protect the cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks, which could cause damage to the internal optical fiber.

    • Full-sized male Digital Optical Audio (Toslink) connectors at each end
    • Heavy duty premium, square metal connector heads
    • Mesh metal jacket protects cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks
    • 8.0mm outside diameter
    • Gold plated ferrule resists corrosion and provides maximum protection for the connector tip
    • Precision polished fiber tips for maximum signal transfer

Important! Because of the shape of the connector heads, this cable will not fit the Xbox 360 S "Slim" models, which are the smaller form-factor models released after June 14, 2010. For the Xbox 360 "Slim", please use one of our standard Toslink cables with molded connectors instead.

    Good cable, no complaints

Pros: Quality jacket that protects the cable but is still easy to bend and maneuver.
Plastic covers for the ends of the cable so it doesn't get damaged running the cable through walls.
A good solid feel to the cable

    Cons: none

I'm happy with this optical audio cable. It has a good solid feel to both the cable and the connectors. It has a nice metal/mesh jacket that put me at ease while feeding this cable through the wall, I wasn't worried about it get damaged. I also like the plastic caps on each end that kept out any drywall dust and sawdust while running the cable through the walls. This cable feels far more durable and higher quality than the smaller optical cable that I paid more for at a big box retail store for my living room sound system. I would definitely recommend this cable.

    Better than expected

Pros: This cable was way more than I expected as far as any price to product comparison. Well made deluxe cable.

    Cons: None

Great value. The only thing I did wrong was order a cable that was about 25 feet longer than I needed.

    Pros: Price, works at 50ft

Cons: Cable well sheathed and connectors seem substantial

Doesn't work with Bose Cinemate - the connector doesn't plug in all the way.
The regular 5mm cables work fine, but these fancy connectors sure look fancy, but they are not well designed and don't work with many optical sockets.
The connector plugs in, but doesn't click, so falls out again. If you hold it in, the link works.
I would suggest people stay away.

    Thick Cable

    Pros: -Thick

    Cons: None

Usually cables like this are very thin. This one is about as thick as my HDMI cable. It makes it great for pulling through walls.
