On Windows operating systems before Windows 2000, and on some current Linux builds, you need an audio cable to get CD audio output from the drive to the system. This cable is designed to connect a CD/DVD drive with an MPC-2 (MPCII) connector to two audio cards or other audio processing devices. The cable is about 24" long.
Note: Windows 2000 added an option that allows you to "Enable Digital CD Audio", obviating the need for the separate audio cable. From Windows XP onwards this option has been the default, so no additional cable connection is required for these operating systems.
