    Response from Monoprice

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the experience you have had with PID 8668. If I may ask, what devices were you connecting with this converter? Did you happen to try other devices to see if that made any difference? What about different cables? Also, has this been an issue since you first received the converter?

Please let me know if the problem still occurs. If it does, I can assist you in obtaining a replacement to see if it will work better. We do cover this product with a one year warranty and obtaining a replacement is of no additional cost. Or I can help setup an RMA for a return instead if you would prefer. If you want to continue with an RMA, please let me know if you wanted to return it or obtain a replacement. Thank you!

    Using Projection TV as monitor
I bought this unit to replace and old analog version and the quality is night and day. The digital quality is excellent and certainly much cheaper than a monitor. Well worth the investment.

PROS: Easy set up and excellent picture quality. Using on a 48" projection TV and i absolutely flawless picture.

CONS: Adjusting the size of the picture. It may be the TV and not the box but I can work with it.

    Worked Great
Used with a Toshiba LX830 running Windows 7 64-bit. We didn't even have to install drivers from the included CD. We just plugged in the included USB cable, plugged in a DVI cable to the monitor and voila.

PROS: Very easy setup. Plug and Play.

CONS: None...thus far. I installed it we'll see about the longevity. There are no moving not much to break.

    Well Made Product
Product was not what I needed but that my was my fault. Without using the product I cannot review how it works, however, it seems very well put together, feels tough and able to handle some rough handling. The composite cables that were included seemed a bit short, but that trivial.

    Works great
I'm using this to convert the VGA out of a security DVR to component video for distribution to TVs. A previous VGA to component converter did not work because it wouldn't scale the picture also. This worked almost right away. I wish the manual did a better job explaining what the buttons did and/or how to change settings but you can just hook it up and start pressing to figure it out I guess.

    PROS: Works easily

    Scaler and converter

    CONS: Needs better instructions.

    Workmanship and Functionality
This converter works absolutely fine. I set it up between my old 65 inch screen tv and my Dell laptop and playstation 3. I am now able to work with both units switching back and forth as desired. Picture is clear so the connectors are superior and streaming movies, using Netflix or using a DVD in either the laptop or the playstation is drama free. The only thing I need now is an audio cable of equal length as the 25 ft. VGA cable. The present audio cable is only 6 ft. so I have to leave the laptop sitting next to the converter with the audio cable going through the converter and into the tv. Sound is great so the converter is on point. With a 25 ft. audio cable I can sit the laptop next to my lounge chair. Good idea to anticipate your viewing distance requirement.

PROS: Unit was simple to link up and the connections were easy to figure out, directions are clear and the clearity is superb.

    CONS: No cons to mention.

    Works great
We have 2 VGA ports we needed to connect to a HDTV but only one VGA on the TV. This converter box works perfectly to connect our PC to the Component connection of the TV.

PROS: Works perfectly. Converts VGA to component video. Even converted the 3.5mm audio to RCA.

CONS: First item recieved not working properly (lines through the image). They shipped out a second one right away and it works great!

    Works well
I've had a hard time getting my nVidia card to output to component, I had a box (probably from the same manufacturer as this one) but it stopped working one day. Now I'm thinking maybe it never worked right because it didn't display on screen text with the mode (480, 720, 1080i), which is a nice feature. I felt with my other one I was just blindly pressing the Mode and SD/HD buttons continuously without knowing what was happening.

PROS: Plug and play, worked pretty much after a restart of the system. I can always rely on Monoprice.

CONS: I haven't fiddled with it much but the screen appears framed or something, it probably just doesn't translate directly. Also, the instructions basically tell you to set your resolution to 1024x768 which sort of stretches things. Maybe I'll try a 1080 resolution and see what happens.

    Plug and Play
Unboxed the device and connected the cables from my Dell Laptop to the DELL 22 inch flat screen and selected the function key to enable the external display. Truly plug and play. The Dell brought up the desktop at 1024x768. The only issue was the image was shifted to the right. This was an issue with the Dell and was rectified by working through the menu on the TV to shift the display to the left.

    PROS: Plug and Play.

    Includes Component and VGA cable

Power button to turn off when not in use to save power

Only uses 3Watts of power when in use

CONS: None that I can see

I wanted to use my LCD TV as a computer monitor and it works good for that. Unfortunately the TC doesn't support all the resolutions available from the converter. Only the lowest setting.

PROS: Allows me to view my computer on my TV
