Ok if you don't want to send it and HD VGA Resolution

Pros: Price. Monoprice service.

Cons: Will not accept a HD resolution. The native resolution of this thing is 1024 x 768. It won't accept an input of anything higher 1280 x 1024. None of these resolutions are a wide screen format or HD. To me, that makes NO sense, because component resolution is 1280 x 720.

Make a box that can accept a Native HD resolution via VGA, and output said resolution to RGB video. Why is that such a difficult concept? Mine is going back because it's useless.

Pros: Plug and Play.
Includes Component and VGA cable
Power button to turn off when not in use to save power
Only uses 3Watts of power when in use

Cons: None that I can see

Unboxed the device and connected the cables from my Dell Laptop to the DELL 22 inch flat screen and selected the function key to enable the external display. Truly plug and play. The Dell brought up the desktop at 1024x768. The only issue was the image was shifted to the right. This was an issue with the Dell and was rectified by working through the menu on the TV to shift the display to the left.

Very good converter, it took me a bit to figure it out but I did, my problems for fyi was the resolution to use I was using Ubuntu and in the end I had to use 16:10 and use the terminal to get the computer to take the new resolution, 1280x800 on the computer and set the converter to 1080 it chops a little off the top up that is no biggie.

Works great

Pros: Works easily
Scaler and converter

Cons: Needs better instructions.

I'm using this to convert the VGA out of a security DVR to component video for distribution to TVs. A previous VGA to component converter did not work because it wouldn't scale the picture also. This worked almost right away. I wish the manual did a better job explaining what the buttons did and/or how to change settings but you can just hook it up and start pressing to figure it out I guess.

I shopped with Monoprice for a long time and had very few problems with the products but this one I would not recommend to anyone and need to return it

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 8668. If I may ask, what devices did you have connected to the converter? Were you able to try switching out the devices to see if the results changed? What about the cables? Also, has this been an issue since you first received the converter?

Please let me know if the problems still occur. I see that you have already started a return RMA however if the problems persist, I can assist you in obtaining a replacement to see if it will work better. We do have a one year warranty for this product and obtaining a replacement is of no additional cost. If you want to continue with a replacement RMA instead, please let me know your results. Thank you!
