    HDMI® Extender/1x2 Splitter

You've got your awesome home theater setup in the family room, but sometimes you want to watch TV in the kitchen or out on the back porch when you barbecue. Don't waste money buying more equipment or cable TV feeds, just use this handy 1x2 Amplifier Splitter from Monoprice!

When you need to exceed the recommended maximum distance of 25 feet for High Speed 1080p HDMI® signals, your best option is to use an HDMI extender that sends the signal over Cat5e/Cat6 network cable. Until recently, most extenders required the use of two Cat5e/6 cables for each extension, one to handle the DDC signal and the other for the TMDS signal.

This splitter reliably sends the High Speed 1080p signal over just a single Cat5e/6 cable! This not only reduces costs, but reduces the hassle of running two cables. The splitter takes a single HDMI input and sends the signal over up to two Cat5e/6 cables to separate locations. Two receiver units are included to decode the signal at the other end and connect to the HDMI input of your display.

    • Easy to install, just plug it in and start using it right away!
    • Extends High Speed 1080p HDMI signals up to 50 meters (164 feet)
    • Splits the HDMI input into two outputs to HDMI over Cat5e/6 cable
    • Uses just a single piece of Cat5e/6 cable for each extension
    • Supports 165 MHz/1.65 Gbps per channel (4.95 Gbps all channel) bandwidth
    • Supports 8-bit per channel (24-bit all channel) deep color
    • Supports uncompressed audio, such as LPCM
    • Gold-plated HDMI connectors
    • Complies with CE, FCC, UL (Canadian and US), and RoHS standards

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends the use of minimum 24 AWG HDMI cables when connecting a device, such as this splitter, between the source and destination devices to ensure minimal signal loss and maximum High Speed signal reliability.

    Continued success
I own several of these splitter/extenders. Most recently 1X2, but I have 1X8 and 1X4 units in operation. They work well for sending HDMI over a distance of 168 feet and even farther (not recommended). They are reliable. Only issue I have had is that they don't work well with CAT6 jacks inline. I like to finish to an RJ45 wall plate but have had some problems unless the CAT 6 cable is terminated with an RJ45 plug and no jacks inline. Not such a big issues in most cases. They have been solid performers for me.

    PROS: Reliable

    Good price point

Solves problem of getting HDMI signal over an extended distance

CONS: Doesn't like standard CAT6 jacks in the signal chain

Works as advertised, Amazingly fast shipping
Does a great job if you don't have a 3D TV. I have to figure a way around this.

PROS: Shipped overnight same day it was ordered, arrived next morning.
Works as advertised - able to add HDTV in another room to my DirecTV DVR.

CONS: I didn't check the specs enough to realize that this does not support 3D. With it I get a message on my 3D Channels that thinks my TV isn't a 3D type, so they are blocked.
Changing channels with my DVR seems to take twice as long to show on TV as before, and the sound begins until about one second after picture.

    Works like a charm!
Bought this item in December. Works like a charm! 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround sound is passed through along with 1080p video. No blips no pixelation. Combined this item with PID 8150 so that I can switch between two different sources. Works great together. I have one output in the living room and one in the bedroom. Mind your distance.

PROS: Supports 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround sound.
    Supports 1080p resolution.
    Doubles the output.
Can output to two separate sources simultaneously with no loss in quality.
    Plug and Play.

CONS: Works with only one source.
All three must be plugged in to work.
    No USB power source.
    Plugs are huge.

I have been using a Monoprice HDMI splitter to drive two HDTVs. One was 20' and the other was 70' of HDMI cable. The Panasonic Plasma was on the 20' cable and worked perfectly. The LG was at the end of the long cable and it also worked without issue. I decided to upgrade the LG to a larger LED TV. However, when I replace the LG with a new Vizio it would not sync with the source. I finally got it work by using a 50' cable but that was not a long term solution since the cable would only reach if I ran it through the hallways. I tried a better quality 65' cable that would reach but it also would not synch. So, in one last attempt I purchased this splitter/extender and replaced by HDMI splitter/long cable solution. It worked right out of the box. It cost a bit more but it is hassle free. I like that it uses only one cat6 cable. Wiring through the attic was so much easier than with the thick HDMI. The receivers are small enough but they require power so thats a design consideration. It would be cool if the IR could be run on the same cat6 as well. With the current solution I need to run a separate 3 conductor wire to carry the IR from the TV back to the source. No big issue, just another cable. I am thinking or demoting the power supply for the receiver as well. Its 5 Volt. I need to see how sensitive the receiver is to the voltage drop over 75ft.

Anyway, I will buy this splitter again or the larger version.

PROS: It works on 75ft cat6

    CONS: receiver units need power

    Only two ports

Finally , one that works GREAT and cost effective
finally a cat5/6 splitter that actually works with no issues.. This was a great item on a very long cat5e run to split incoming cable to 2 tvs for a customer install on a large outdoor BBQ patio setup.. will be using more of these

    PROS: plug and play

    CONS: none

    Works well on 100ft cat6
This thing works great @ 720p, have not tried 1080p yet but I have been running two TVs off this for the last few months with not Too many problems, and no deal breakers.

PROS: - 100ft Cat6 run works great @ 720p, no artifacts. (Not sure how 1080p will look yet)
    - ONE Cable for each endpoint, unlike some of the other extenders that takes too runs for one extension! BIG Pro!!!
    - Doesn't run hot like some others do, a little warm but not bad

CONS: - Not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but my Logitech Revue (Source) started having freezing issues, and would also reboot right in the middle of viewing. Did it for 4-5 weeks then just stopped having issues. Started about 4 days after I added these to the setup (nothing was added/changed before or after the issue)
    - Be careful with crimping the power cord. One of my tips will kill the signal if the cable gets moved just a little.

    No problem setup
I discussed my desire to duplicate my comcast signal output on two flat screens about 75ft apart. Tech rep recommended this splitter and it worked first time,no problem. Set it up for the superbowl and so far perfect duplicated HD reception

    PROS: Easy setup

    CONS: None yet

Great product. I used to to split an output for a security camera system setup. Couldnt be happier!

    PROS: Easy to setup

    No settings to mess with

    Plug and Play

CONS: Wish the HDMI and Ethernet plug where on the same side.

HDMI over Cat 6 and Patch Panel

PROS: I have 20 network runs over patch panel, some wires are crossing electrical feeds. Some Connectors are old, i haven't found any issue with the display nor the audio signals...

I have been running Boxee in 1080i, 1080p and Apple TV in 720p without any issue.
I ran 3 TV's at the same time with the Mini HDMI splitter.

Im planning to buy one more and extend it further. With a Matrix.

CONS: I haven't found any yet, i plugged everything that runs into my house with a patch panel and keystone.. and cat 5e cables and some cat 6.. Old cables, new cables,
I had one cables i rebixed a bit and the TV did not even glitch...

The only cons.. which is irrelevant is that the power plugs should allow you to plug something over them.. like Digital TV receivers.....

    Perform as expected
This is currently running (2) TV's at 100' with Cat-6
System had a faulty power supply (1) out of (3) when received, had replacement shipped via chat and was up in running a few days later. Stinks we had to wait for a replacement setup, but this is how you judge an online retailer.... response when product doesn't function as advertised. This return/replacement was quick and painless...

    PROS: Easy Returns/Replacement

    CONS: None to date

BEST ANSWER: Works well if your DVR box supports RF remote and you have one remote for each location.
This may work better for your situation if you have IR remote controls only. Be sure to read the specs to make sure it fits your needs: http://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15521#QA
