| 2X1 Enhanced Powered DVI Switcher | | | Question: I''''ve tried switches from other vendors who said their switch would work with any HDMI equipment but it was incompatible with my setup. How do I know if your switch will work with my equipment? | | Answer: The problem with HDMI switchers is there is no one switch that is compatible with every device out there. In fact, even with the same brands, one model of DVD player may work with a particular switch but a different model will not. Also, compatibility is not specific to a single device. Instead it''''s a 3 way relationship between the source, the switch and the display. So, a particular dvd may work through a particular switch to a certain TV, but not to another TV, but that TV may work through the switch with another DVD player. Given that, you end up with infinite number of possible combinations so it''''s impossible to know based on brands what devices with work with a particular switch and what won''''t. The trick is to find a switch that will work with your particular combination of devices. In theory, a switch will work with every device but only if it''''s connect in turn to another device that it is compatible with. Unfortunately, finding the right switch is a bit of trial and error. The other vendors weren''''t lying but they didn''''t give you a complete picture. | | Question: Will this switch work with DVI devices as well? | | Answer: Yes, you can connect DVI-D devices to the switch using HDMI/DVI cables. The picture quality should be completely unaltered since both HDMI and DVI use the same type of digital video signal. However, you will not get audio support for devices that are connected by DVI. For these devices you will need to connect a separate, secondary audio connection between your devices. | | Question: The front toggle button on the switch works fine, but the switch doesn''''t respond to the remote control. How do I determine if the remote is working or not? | | Answer: The easiest way to see if an IR remote control is transmitting a siganl or not is to check it with a digital camera. Even though IR is invisible to the human eye, it can be detected by the electronic sensors on a digital camera. If you have a digital camera or camera phone, point the remote at the cameras lens and look at it through the screen of the camera. Press a button on the remote and you should see a pale purple light pulsing on the front of the remote. If you don''''t get any light, try replacing the remote control''''s batteries. | | Question: The switch doesn''t seem to be functioning correctly in my system. Am I doing something wrong? | Answer: Did you test each individual cable to make sure they all function properly? Have you tried swapping out the cables? Did you make sure the power adapter is plugged in and the unit is powered on? Did you make sure that the TV was powered on before turning on your source devices? Have you tried all inputs on the device? | | Question: The picture from my switch is constantly flickering, even though I have 24AWG or thicker HDMI cables. | | Answer: The issue could be caused by a device or cable nearby the setup,or in the setup causing interference. Try rerouting cable paths and distancing devices from sources of interference, such as moving routers and other networking cables away from the switch setup. |

| | Works great for me | Pros: Works great
Small footprint
Easy to install
Simple controls
Cons: Blinking LED to show selected monitor - might drive you crazy - you can cover with tape!
Switch box works great for me. Simple to use. If both computers are off it will automatically switch to the one you turn on. The LED stays blinking for the monitor you choose. That could drive you crazy - should just be a solid LED indicator. You could put a piece of tape over if it drives you nuts. No issues with this switch.

| | solid product | Pros: Works as it is supposed to
Cons: Not really a con but for my use, it would have been nice to have some double stick tape to mount it where I needed to mount it.
Product is nice looking, works as it is supposed to and haven't had any issues with the product.

| | Mainly Windows PC compatible | Pros: It works for Windows PCs
Cons: Does not work well with MacBook (resolutions keep changing).
Blinking LED indicator
When switching between my MacBook and Windows PC, the MacBook will detect this change and attempt to change resolutions, which cause the windows layout to be rearranged. That means it's not sending a consistent feedback signal when it is not the primary monitor. I was also pretty annoyed at the bright red blinking light to indicate which PC it was connected to.

| | I have been using this thing for 5 years straight. | Pros: Built like a tank, and reliable. I've pretty much literally, apart from moving it, shut it off, it's always on. Still running strong after 5 years. Highly Recommend this item.
Cons: The flashy lights can be a bit irritating but nothing a bit of tape with a pinhole in it won't fix )
I would recommend buying this if you need a good box to switch between sources for one monitor, that's what it's for and it does that very well. Been using it for PC/PS3 switching.

| | Fine Enough | Pros: Low Price, small enough, functions great up for 1080p monitors and TVs....not for much higher res than that.
Cons: The lights are absurd. 2 bright green lights, and one flashing red is not necessary, and is incredibly distracting. electrical tape fixed the issue, but now it looks even cheaper than it's already low price.
Works Great.
