5x1 Enhanced HDMI® Switch with Built-In Equalizer & Remote Control

Enjoy the easy switching life with the Monoprice 5x1 Enhanced HDMI® Switch!

This switch allows you to connect five HDMI inputs and direct them to a single HDMI output. It fully conforms to the the HDCP standard and includes support for all 3D formats.

Four of the inputs are in the traditional location on the back, while the fifth is on the front panel. This allows you to easily make temporary connections, such as from a phone or tablet, without having to reach behind and locate the plug by feel.

The switch includes a remote control, with an on/off button, five direct access buttons, and a pair of directional buttons to cycle between available inputs. Whenever a device is turned off, the unit automatically switches to the next device in the chain, the same as if you had pressed the "next" button on the remote or pressed the "Touch switch" on the front panel.

The switch also incorporates an amplifier, which automatically regenerates the HDMI signal to full strength, allowing you to use longer-than-normal HDMI cables from the input devices. An external 5VDC power supply is required and supplied with the unit.

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends the use of minimum 24 AWG HDMI cables when connecting a device, such as this switch, between the source and destination devices to ensure minimal signal loss and maximum High Speed signal reliability.

Great Product but Glare Is Very Bad

    Pros: Easy to Use
    Comes with Adapter
All IN Plugs in BACK, only one in front, so convenient to hide wires when box is facing you
    Worth the money

Cons: Painful blue light glare must be covered with something

This is a great product and replaced my old monoprice switch that lasted over eight years. It worked straight out after plugging it in, comes with an AC Adapter which is great because some don't, but OMG that GLARE from the button lights is like a piercing laser. I'm surprised no one has contacted that manufacturing on this obvious liability problem and fixed it with an additional 30 cents piece of heavier glass. The blue light is so strong that you cannot watch TV without the light hitting you right in the eye and it really does hurt. I put a rectangular loctyte putty tac over the lights with a black piece of electrical tape to blend in, and now it hides the reflection and doesn't look bad at all. The downside with this bandaid approach is you have to just know what number switch you hit on the remote and remember to shut the unit off since the lights are covered.

Works Perfectly But Has One Big Flaw (at least for me)

    Pros: works as advertised

Cons: home theater speakers' remote will also change input on the switch

I have been using this switch for a couple months now and I love it. I have an older plasma TV that only has 2 hdmi inputs and one went out. I bought this and now have 4 devices connected to my TV (cable box, Chromecast, Amazon Fire Stick, and my PC). It works as advertised. My only gripe with it is that the volume buttons on the remote of the monitors I use for my home theater, JBL LSR4328P, will also change the input on the switch.

If I can get this issue sorted out, I would give it 5 stars. Monoprice, is the same RF receiver used in all the switches? If it isn't the same, can I switch this one out for another?

    Solid hdmi switch

    • Jesster,

Pros: small, easy to use, lasted 4 years and still going

    Cons: I lost the remote

I have had this hdmi switch for about 4 years, and is still going strong. I use 4 seperate devices through it and it has had no problems. The only thing is I lost my remote to it, however when you power on a device it automatically senses and switches to that input. Maybe the Monoprice team can help me out-Are there replacement remotes availble for this unit?

    Easy, simple

Pros: Inexpensive but well made, Highly compatible with various video signals.

Cons: Overly bright LEDs. Physical button hard to press without moving unit.

I'm using the switch to share one monitor with a computer and a couple of Raspberry PIs. My only complaints are that the "Touch Button" on the front requires a moderate amount of force to cause the unit to switch, and it is so light that it tends to slide unless you hold both the front and back while doing so., and that the LEDs are very bright Since most of the time I'm using the IR remote, the first is no big deal, and some tape took care of the second.

As a side note, I'm running computer resolutions on the Pis that aren't noted as supported by the documentation, but they seem to work without issue. That being said, your mileage may vary.
