4x2 True Matrix High Speed HDMI® Powered Switch with Remote Control, 3D, and x.v.Color™ Support
If you're like most people, you have your home theater setup in one room, but have TVs in other rooms as well. This gives everyone in the house the ability to watch what they want, when they want. But what if the kids want to watch a DVD while you want to watch the big game in the living room with your friends? You can lug the DVD player to the other room for the kids, but a better solution is to use an this 4x2 HDMI® Mini Matrix Switch from Monoprice!
With this switch you don't need to move equipment from room-to-room, nor do you have to buy duplicate equipment for the other room. This matrix provides 4 HDMI inputs, which allows you to connect the Xbox 360®, cable box, blu-ray player, and the output from your Android phone. Any of these four inputs can be independently selected for either of the two outputs. Both displays can select the same or different inputs.
This matrix features an S/PDIF Digital Coaxial audio output via an RCA jack on the back of the unit. The Digital Coaxial output can be used simultaneously with the HDMI output on channel A (channel B does not support S/PDIF audio).
The switch includes a remote control, allowing direct selection of any of the inputs for each of the two outputs. It supports the full High Speed 1080p@60Hz HDMI video resolution, 3D video, Deep Color up to 36-bits, and x.v.Color. Additionally, it supports high definition multichannel audio, including Dolby TrueHD™ and DTS-HD Master Audio™. The matrix is powered by an included 5 VDC, 2A AC adapter. The four input and two output HDMI ports are gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections.

PROS: Allows us to watch in our den and kitchen at the same time!
CONS: None really . . . only that the reset button has to be pressed each time a second TV is turned on. It's a minor inconvenience.
CONS: Occasionally hangs when more than on device connected to the box is turned on, then turned off, prohibits moving to one of the other devices, requires the unit to be reset.
Love monoprice hardware! Saves me a boat load of $$$
PROS: Works great (mostly)
easy to use
CONS: Needs to be reset a lot (1 of 2)
PROS: easy set up, does what it claims to do
CONS: none yet
PROS: It just works.
After connecting all the cables, it all worked perfect! The problem came when switching inputs with the remote, sometimes I would get an out of range message in one of my TV's. After speaking with a monoprice rep he adviced me in the correct order on turning on the equipment to avoid errors.
The order is:
-Turn on TV (or both TVs)
-Turn on source device (PS3, Cable Box, etc)
- Turn on Matrix.
As soon as I tried this method I haven't had any problems since!
This is a great device and I would recommend it all the way!
- Motorola HD DCT
- Sony PS3
- Lg 50" 720P plasma TV
- Optoma HD200x 1080p projector
My 7.1 Pioneer reciever does not have HDMI in/out but using this switch allows me to switch between the TV and projector without having to upgrade my Reciever. I looked at buying a new reciever, but the cheapest I could find one that had 2 HDMI outputs was $1799.00. So for around the $80.00 mark, this was the better option.
A big bonus is that I can control it with my Harmony one.
PROS: Works with Harmony One Remote
CONS: only does digital coax to 1 output, which doesn't matter because I run the Digital coax/toslink directly from the DCT/PS3 to the reciever and it works fine.
PROS: Conveniently switches four sources to two displays
CONS: Occasionally gets out of sync and needs to be reset
PROS: Works as advertised
Superb picture quality
Never had to reset
CONS: IR controller must be pointed at unit to work
No auto switching
..but very small almost insignificant cons..
