4x2 True Matrix High Speed HDMI® Powered Switch with Remote Control, 3D, and x.v.Color™ Support

If you're like most people, you have your home theater setup in one room, but have TVs in other rooms as well. This gives everyone in the house the ability to watch what they want, when they want. But what if the kids want to watch a DVD while you want to watch the big game in the living room with your friends? You can lug the DVD player to the other room for the kids, but a better solution is to use an this 4x2 HDMI® Mini Matrix Switch from Monoprice!

With this switch you don't need to move equipment from room-to-room, nor do you have to buy duplicate equipment for the other room. This matrix provides 4 HDMI inputs, which allows you to connect the Xbox 360®, cable box, blu-ray player, and the output from your Android phone. Any of these four inputs can be independently selected for either of the two outputs. Both displays can select the same or different inputs.

This matrix features an S/PDIF Digital Coaxial audio output via an RCA jack on the back of the unit. The Digital Coaxial output can be used simultaneously with the HDMI output on channel A (channel B does not support S/PDIF audio).

The switch includes a remote control, allowing direct selection of any of the inputs for each of the two outputs. It supports the full High Speed 1080p@60Hz HDMI video resolution, 3D video, Deep Color up to 36-bits, and x.v.Color. Additionally, it supports high definition multichannel audio, including Dolby TrueHD™ and DTS-HD Master Audio™. The matrix is powered by an included 5 VDC, 2A AC adapter. The four input and two output HDMI ports are gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections.

These are not ready for prime time!

    Pros: multiple sources

    Cons: bad handshakes, frequent resets

I have two of these switches. They work very inconsistently, tend to lose handshake with DirecTV a lot! constantly power cycling the switch to fix the handshake cycling issue. Get yelled at by the wife every time i do!
I am using all Monoprice equipment - including their HDMI cables - Commercial Series Premium High Speed HDMI® Cable 24aag.
I still need a solution..Does anyone know WHICH monoprice 4x2 actually works???

    Works with occasional inconsistencies

Pros: Inexpensive solution for multiple displays

    Cons: Requires resets frequently

As others have mentioned, it sometimes requires several reset cycles to negotiate the HDMI handshake between devices, but does what we needed. Use it to send three sources (Oppo BD 83, Roku and Samsung HDTV Tuner) to two displays (Epson 8350 Projector and Philips LCD TV) in our conference room.

I bought this device so we could send any of three inputs (two HDMI cables from the conference room table plus one Apple TV) to one or both of the LCD displays we have mounted at one end of the room.

This device works like a charm w/o any fuss. I'm happy with the pricing and quality.

    Works, but not very well

    Pros: Inexpensive
    It almost works

Cons: Requires reset with every use
    Finicky
    Doesn't fully work as advertised

I bought 2 of these to eliminate the cost of a couple of extra cable boxes. I connected them with Ultra Slim 18Gbps Active High Speed HDMI® Cable with RedMere® Technology, 3ft Red. They did not work at all. I called technical support and they said to switch to their commercial, lower gauge (thicker) HDMI cables. I tried this and it did not work. I experimented and tried the commercial cables from the cable box to the switch and the slim cables from the switch to the HD BaseT extenders. This works, but I need to hit the reset button on the switch every time we turn on the tv. I dont think this device is ready for prime time. Unfortunately, I have wasted a lot of time an money on this experiment.

    Hello Charlie,

Thank you for your review. Can you please let me know if all devices have the same resolutions and output settings on the Matrix? If sometimes the Matrix is required of true color or arc and various other extended features, it might require a reset for it to properly function. Please let me know, thank you!

    Beware of this matrix switch

    Pros: Cheap

    Cons: Doesn't support 3D
Both outputs blank when you switch either A or B to a new source
Sometimes it just stops working and has to be reset.

I bought this switch for a new install In my newly finished theater room. Although the WEB sire says it supports 3D it does NOT. Tried it with multiple sources and a 3D projector. Directly connected (no matrix switch) my 3D projector and player works. With the 6415 switch in place, No 3D.

    Hello Ronlong40,

Thank you for your review. I just wanted to note you would want to be sure that you are using High Speed HDMI cables that use HDMI version 1.4 for it would support 3D signals. Though if you are using Standard Speed HDMI cables that are still HDMI 1.4 they would not support the required signal speed that 3D requires. Also with HDMI switches, splitters, matrixes, etc. it is best to use thicker gauge HDMI cables such as 24AWG HDMI cables to ensure that you are receiving a strong and reliable signal. If smaller gauges are being used (such as 28AWG) you may experience signal issues due to the smaller gauge conductors. I would recommend checking the HDMI cable jackets to see if they state they are High Speed.
