    4x2 True Matrix HDMI® Switch w/ Remote (Rev. 3.0)

If you're like most people, you have your home theater setup in one room, but have TVs in other rooms as well. This gives everyone in the house the ability to watch what they want, when they want. But what if the kids want to watch a DVD while you want to watch the big game in the living room with your friends? You can lug the DVD player to the other room for the kids, but a better solution is to use an this 4x2 True Matrix HDMI® Switch from Monoprice!

With this switch you don't need to move equipment from room-to-room, nor do you have to buy duplicate equipment for the other room. This matrix provides 4 HDMI inputs, which allows you to connect the Xbox 360™, cable box, blu-ray player, and the output from your Android phone. Any of these four inputs can be independently selected for either of the two outputs. Both displays can select the same or different inputs.

The switch includes a remote control, allowing direct selection of any of the inputs for each of the two outputs. Additionally, the matrix can be controlled by a computer, via an RS232 serial port, as well as front panel controls.

The matrix supports the full High Speed 1080p@60Hz HDMI video resolution and features a 6.75Gbps bandwidth, sufficient to support 3D video, 36-bit Deep Color, x.v.Color, and high-definition multichannel audio, including Dolby TrueHD™ and DTS-HD Master Audio™. It is powered by an included 5 VDC, 2A AC adapter. The four input and two output HDMI ports are gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. It measures about 10.2" x 4.5" x 1.3".

A spare/replacement remote is available as PID 6166.

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends using 22AWG, 24AWG, or active HDMI cables with Redmere technology to achieve the best results and to ensure minimum signal loss over longer distances.

    Works pretty well

Pros: Seems to do its job fairly well

Cons: Blue LEDs on the front are VERY distracting while trying to watch a movie... Any chance you guys could change them to red (which doesn't ruin night vision) or, perhaps, add a dimmer setting on there so people aren't distracted by the bright lights? Or, better, a way to turn off the LEDs while leaving the device on?
Having two remotes is a pain but, I'll get used to it - eventually. :-)

I've had this device for about a week, seems to do its job fairly well. The one "complaint" I have is that my universal remote won't let me add turning this on into the "sequence" for startup. :-) So, I now have 2 remotes I have to use to turn on the TV or DVD. :-) Small inconvenience. Overall, the device works as expected so far.

    Decent unit

    Pros: Inexpensive, worked as advertised.

Cons: Slow switch speed. 50% failure rate, used unit (with scratches) sent as a replacement.

The unit is decent. I purchased a four of these units. One was faulty out of the box (tap on the top of the unit, and the lights blink out). A second unit remote was dead (I combined the bad portions together for one RMA). So, 50% failed rate. These were right out of the box like this.

My biggest issue was that when I returned the unit, they sent me a re-packaged unit that apparently had a decent amount of use. It was scratched up, but it did work, and I just did not want to be out another unit again.

Switching time is slow, about 10 seconds (which might be industry norm, not sure).

    Pros: Works as advertised.

    Cons: None yet.

This is night and day compared to my last set up. I can watch the same thing on 2 TV's or 1 tv receive dvd signal while the other is on Dish.

Will this work with Out 1 to TV Out 2 to AVR?

Since the Toslink on the Apple TV v4 has been removed, I was wondering if this scenario would work. Connect the ATV to HDMI switch and have Out 1 directly to my TV and Out 2 to my AVR. Reason? I'm not one to have my AVR on all the time. For those times I just want to listen via my TV speakers.

    Pros: Great Price
    Works

    Cons: None

I had my doubts after reading some of the other reviews but I took a chance. I recently added a projector to my living room which is feeding from the devices in the family room. With this I am now able to view each source on either the TV or projector or both. I have connected a directv wireless genie, xbox 360, xbox one, and chromecast as sources and all seem to work fine.

Sometime there is a bit of delay changing sources but it's not meant to be an on the fly thing. The HDMI needs to reconnect I guess. I really don't change the sources that often but got tired of moving cables around. The memory setting is great to set the default sources that should come up after a power outage.

It was either this or upgrading my AV receiver to a dual zone hdmi model which would have run in the thousand dollar range.
