    Blackbird 4X1 Enhanced HDMI® Switch w/ Built-In Equalizer & Remote (REV.3.0)

It seems like everything uses HDMI® these days, from home theater equipment to your Android phone. With so many HDMI devices in use, most televisions quickly run out of available HDMI input ports. You don't want the hassle of plugging and unplugging cables whenever you want to watch or play something different and you don't want the expense of new TV. Just get this 4x1 Enhanced HDMI Switch from Monoprice!

This switch features a built-in HDMI signal equalizer, which helps compensate for weak signals. It has four input and one output ports on the back of the switch, each of which is gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The switch is powered by an included 5 VDC, 1A AC adapter. The included remote control allows you to cycle through the four inputs or access them directly using the numbered buttons.

used this and the monoprice wireless hdmi transceivers for a customer that had 2 hdmi video sources and no way to switch between them to send to his display.

PROS: switches very quickly and reliably.

i love the discreet input ir codes.

    CONS: none

i plugged everything in and nothing i started over and the second time around everything worked fine...i have a feeling it was user error. i am using it for my viewsonic 40 tv to switch between my comcast dvr and my ps3. takes 2 seconds for input signal to kick in but the picture looks great esp. running hdmi on my ps3! recommended! great price. thanks monoprice.

Great price and works perfectly. I am certainly pleased with the quality as it is VERY well built. No problems using on HD-A2 and PS3 sending signal to Panasonic ae900u projector. Looking forward to more Monoprice purchases.

    Sleek and well-built
When I bought this switch, I was just looking to get a switch with remote to make it easier to manage our connections to the PS3 and XBox 360 consoles. However, this little switch surprised me with its sleek look and it just feels so solid. We have it sitting on a shelf with an alarm clock on it - you can't even tell its there until you use the remote to turn it on and see all the lights come on.

Even from a distance, its easy to tell which input you're on - 1, 2, 3 or 4.

Would I buy it again? In a heartbeat.

    Worked as expected. Very pleased.
Bought this to hook up a DirecTV box and DVD player through HDMI. Later paired it to a Harmony One remote with absolutely no problems whatsoever. If needed another, I would buy again.

10 Star Product, 1 Star Support
I understand that these switches can be sensitive to the cables and input signals and might not work with everything but I think the quick canned response from the Live Tech Support was incorrect. If I'm able to input signals from a Xbox 360 and a Uverse Tuner at 1080p to the Dell monitor then the problem doesn't appear to be with the monitor but maybe with the signal coming from the PC. He had no ideas or information on what I could try. 1 star for support, 10 stars for the product = 9 stars. I'll try and troubleshoot this on my own

PROS: The switch is awesome. Bought it with 4 new 4" 24 CL2 cables. My xBox 360 and Uverse TV tuner connected immediately to the Dell 2123ST LED Monitor at 1080p and I swear the pic quality looks better that if connected directly to the monitor. I can't get my Dell 580 PC to give me a high quality screen but think that's just some sort of graphic card or screen resolution/freq thing that I'm working on figuring out.

CONS: I'm having problems with the connection of my Dell 580 PC through the switch (screen is washed out and the desktop has pixilation). I went on-line and asked the Live Tech Support for ideas to try to see if I could resolve the issue. Below is the question I submitted and the less than knowledable response I got.

I bought the 4X1 Enhanced 1.3b Certified HDMI Switch w/ Built-In Equalizer & Remote (REV.3.0) along with 4, 4 foot 24 gauge HDMI cables the other day from MonoPrice. I hooked up a Xbox 360, a Uverse TV Tuner and a Dell 580 PC all through the switch to a Dell HD 23' LED monitor (1920 x 1080) . The Xbox and Uverse have fantastic picture quality at 1080p and the switching works fine. The problem I'm having is the with the Dell 580 connection, the picture quality looks washed out and I’m getting pixilation of the desktop background. I’ve tried setting the monitor to both auto sense and dedicated HDMI input and either seems to make a difference. When I run the Dell 580 straight to the monitor using the same HDMI cable the screen is perfect.

    Ideas what to try next?

You are now chatting with 'TS - Shaun B (level 1)'
TS - Shaun B (level 1): Hi Mark Taylor,
TS - Shaun B (level 1): Thank you for contacting Monoprice Tech Support.
TS - Shaun B (level 1): My name is Shaun B. Give me a moment while I review your question.
TS - Shaun B (level 1): How are you doing today Mark Taylor?
    Mark Taylor: good
TS - Shaun B (level 1): Good to hear!
TS - Shaun B (level 1): Now, do you know the AWG of the cables you are using?
Mark Taylor: I bought them from monoprice along with the switch and they were the 24 Cl2 4 foot
TS - Shaun B (level 1): Try this
TS - Shaun B (level 1): Power everything down. Then turn on the TV first, then the switch, then the components. These switches need to detect a TV at start up to function correctly.
Mark Taylor: it's not a TV, it's a Dell computer monitor. I've tried that multiple times and nothing improves. The monitor will go into energy saving mode if no signal is detected
Mark Taylor: from any of the devices I got feeding through the switch
TS - Shaun B (level 1): You have switched the monitor to different HDMI outputs on the switch correct?
Mark Taylor: the switch only has one output...4 inputs. I've tried connecting the Dell PC to different inputs.
    TS - Shaun B (level 1): I meant, input, I am sorry.
TS - Shaun B (level 1): Your monitor does support the output signal of the device, correct?
Mark Taylor: monitor supports 1920 x 1080. The PC is set to the same resolution.
TS - Shaun B (level 1): Gotcha. It sound like to me, that this switch is not compatible with your dell monitor
TS - Shaun B (level 1): Compatibility with HDMI switches is rarely a one to one issue. A device that is compatible with a particular switch may work fine when the switch is connected to one display or A/V receiver, but not function correctly when the switch is connected to a different model of TV or receiver. So depending on what is connected, results can vary and since possible combinations are almost infinite it's impossible to predict what the outcome will be until you try it.
Mark Taylor: I was asking for other ideas to try but....never mid. I'll just mention on your web site this "canned" response for tech assistance I got from Shaun B. Thanks Again.

    Monoprice HDMI Switcher ( 4 x1 )
This is regarding my recent purchase of a Monoprice HDMI 4 x 1 Switch required as
my older receiver lacked HDMI switching. My order was received and I promptly received the device. It was very well packed and protected from any possible damage. Within minutes it was installed in my system and working very well. I also acquired HDMI premium cables to complete the connection from Monoprice. They too were packed extremely well and fuctioned as advertised. I am more than happy with my purchases from Monoprice and look forward to doing more business with the company. The price and service are excellent.
