    Blackbird 4X1 Enhanced HDMI® Switch w/ Built-In Equalizer & Remote (REV.3.0)

It seems like everything uses HDMI® these days, from home theater equipment to your Android phone. With so many HDMI devices in use, most televisions quickly run out of available HDMI input ports. You don't want the hassle of plugging and unplugging cables whenever you want to watch or play something different and you don't want the expense of new TV. Just get this 4x1 Enhanced HDMI Switch from Monoprice!

This switch features a built-in HDMI signal equalizer, which helps compensate for weak signals. It has four input and one output ports on the back of the switch, each of which is gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The switch is powered by an included 5 VDC, 1A AC adapter. The included remote control allows you to cycle through the four inputs or access them directly using the numbered buttons.

    Pros: Price and 4 ports
    Easy to set up.
Remote that powers down the switch when not in use.

Cons: the power and port lights are pretty bright but by no means a deal breaker. If need be put tape over r the lights to block them.

MP does it again, price and quality are very good. I have a PS3, WiiU, and Sony Blu-Ray plugged in to this and works perfect. I had a 2 port non powered hdmi before this but needed more ports. I used passive hdmi cables from source to the switch and redmere from switch to tv and works perfect.

    Sometimes Stumbles loses connection

Pros: Works well when it does work!

Cons: Irritating dropping of connection after running awhile

I have WD Live Media Player, a ROKU 3 and a Samsung Blu-Ray Player connected to the Monprice HDMI inputs on the switch.
My first HDTV HDMI "Source" is a straight shot from my Dish 722 Sat Receiver. My second HDTV HDMI input is from the output of the Monoprice Switcher The built-in "Source" Switch of the HDTV does the switching between Sat box output and the output of the Monoprice HDMI Switch.

That said, the Monoprice HDMI switch works well for the most part, with the annoying exception of unexpectedly dropping connection, or briefly stumbling (as I call it), with both Video and Audio briefly cutting out and then coming back when streaming from either WD Media Player or Roku. Not sure about Blu-Ray yet? This usually starts to occur after a while (getting hot?) and then reoccurring sporadically!
Previously I had NO issue like this dropping of connections, when all the same devices were connected via a cheap automatic switch that "sometimes" sensed the correct source automatically .....which is why I replaced that auto switch with this Monoprice HDMI Switcher with Remote Control source buttons. Different switch, different issues!

This HDMI switch has a remote control that uses AAA batteries and it WORKS!

Pros: Has a remote control that uses 2 , normal, AAA batteries!
    Works well.

    Cons: None

To date, this the ONLY remote controlled HDMI switch that I can find that is designed with a remote control that uses two, standard, AAA batteries. Other than the HDMI switch working, the REMOTE is the most important design feature because it is the one and only part that the customer uses, multiple times, every day. Other designs that use credit card size remotes with watch batteries are totally unacceptable, in my opinion. Thank you to the brilliant designer of this one and only product!!

Works with some possible adjustments to device output settings

Pros: Very low cost option to add more hdmi ports to a tv, or to avoid running additional cables through your walls.

Cons: Can be picky on input signal. If you are having issues try seeing if your device has a Deep Color option that can be turned off.

Recently moved to a newer house that has the tv wall mounted above the fireplace mantle - there is only 1 hdmi ran through the wall to the tv. Rather than try to fish another hdmi through the wall I decided to give this a try.
I've tried 3 devices so far.
DirecTV Genie and Mediacom Tivo boxes worked immediately, no issue
Samsung Blu-Ray player did not work initially. If connected directly to the hdmi to the tv it was fine. I went through the Blu-Ray player picture options and turned off the Deep Color option - this fixed the issue.

    Pros: feels solidly built
    remote works well

Cons: extremely dependent on perfect conditions to function
its a real PITA trying to get everything to work

The order of which your devices are connected determines if it works or not.. I had to plug my chromecast in 1 and firestick in 2. the hdmi extension that comes with the firestick wouldn't produce video, but using the one that came with the chromecast on the firestick gives me picture. You cant put the fire stick first or it wont work, and the design of the firestick with the power coming out of the side makes it impossible to put next to the chromecast without an extension.. There can not be an empty input port or else there is no picture. even while it is working there are occasional pops and flickers while using my firestick. It would be a great product if there weren't compatibility issues and if it wasn't so dang picky about what goes where.
