It seems like everything uses HDMI® these days, from home theater equipment to your Android phone. With so many HDMI devices in use, most televisions quickly run out of available HDMI input ports. You don't want the hassle of plugging and unplugging cables whenever you want to watch or play something different and you don't want the expense of new TV. Just get this 8x1 Enhanced Powered HDMI Switch from Monoprice!
This switch has eight input and one output HDMI ports on the back, each of which is gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The switch is powered by an included 9 VDC adapter, which is designed for international use with four different plug modules for the US, UK, Australasia, and the EU. The included remote control allows you to cycle through the eight inputs or access them directly using the numbered buttons. Additionally, the switch can be controlled with a computer via the RS232 serial port on the back panel.

PROS: Lots of inputs.
CONS: Bright blinking LEDs that can't be turned off. They also can't be covered easily.
Not compatible with all HDMI input devices (nothing is).
PROS: I have used this unit for over 3 years now. Mounted it in a rack and its performance has been excellent! I have eight devices plugged into it, and it makes life so much easier. Of course you could spend a good chunk of coin and buy a new AVR with 7-8 HDMI ports now to do the same thing. Now if we can get Monoprice to do a 8x2 matrix switcher.:)
CONS: Can't get another remote for unit from Monoprice if you were to lose it.
PROS: This Switch has more than enough HDMI inputs to suit my needs. Its easy to switch between inputs.
CONS: I know it sounds petty but the blinking lights are BRIGHT. It really doesn't bother me, but when I have guests over they allways comment on the bright blinking lights. I like the lights, but maybe duller ones for the future?
PROS: Works perfectly with all of my devices: Xbox-360, PS3, SageTV HD300, Boxee Box, PVR, laptop. Works with Harmony remote. Heavy enough to stay put with cables plugged in.
CONS: Lights are little bright, wouldn't be so bad if the red one didn't keep blinking.
PROS: It does just exactly what it is suppose to do, and it does iit great. PS3, BluRay,HD-DVD, and 2 400 disc Sony DVD's , all without a hitch.Only had 3 options on the back of Mistubishi but now I have plenty!
You will want this to grow your options too.
CONS: OH how the lights are bright. And with no way to dim or turn them off, I came up with my own solution. I used a hole punch on electrical tape and made 95% or better coverage of the lens, and its not bad at all now. It gives just enough glow to see what its connecting to, although its never made a mistake you could block them completely I suppose. Only flaw, well I can live with that.
PROS: Easy to use with large buttons that give a status as to HDMI items that are active and a red light indicating the one selected going out. The status lights are extremely useful in telling what items are turned on and active, as well as the one you have selected to send out. Quality of the unit appears to be better than expected. Good value for the price. Includes rack mount which was very nice and was handy. It also has rubber feet on the bottom of the unit for table mounting.
CONS: The holes in the rack mount ears are not machined correctly, and take some effort to get them to tighten up. The holes are not lined up and so it is hard to keep a screw straight when tightening the rack ears up to the rack. That was very aggravating and it made you want to drill the holes out bigger in order for it to fit correctly. Still, for the price and to include rack mount ears as an option, is very good.
A Dimmer switch or an off switch, included, would have been perfect.
PROS: Switch works great. Customer service even better. See my review.
CONS: Bright blinking red LED for selected port. I learned to ignore it fairly quickly.
