    Chromatic Pedal Tuner

Easily tune your guitar or bass on stage with this Chromatic Pedal Tuner from Monoprice!

This tuner is designed to fit into your pedal rack and features a heavy-duty metal construction and activation button. It has two 1/4" TS outputs, Normal and Bypass. The Normal output is muted whenever the tuner is activated and the Bypass output ignores the tuner completely and outputs whatever comes in over the 1/4" TS Input jack.

It has a tuning range from A0 (27.5Hz) to C8 (4186Hz) and is accurate to within ± 1 cent. It can be calibrated to between 436 ~ 445Hz in 1Hz increments and supports the application of 1, 2, or 3 flats to the tuning. The pedal is powered with either a 9V alkaline or heavy-duty battery or with a 9VDC power adapter. Batteries and power adapters sold separately.

Didn't even last a year, even after hardly using it.

Pros: Nice bright display and built really well.

Cons: Quit working after about 10 months without hardly any use.

I bought one of these almost a year ago on January 5, 2015. I was really happy with it while it worked. I hardly used it and about twp months ago it just started flashing a single LED light on the front panel and that's all it still does. I have changed batteries and had it hooked to a plug in power supply and no change.

Pros: Seems to work most of the time
    Accurate enough for government work
Build quality seems relatively high for the price

    Cons: Unreliable
    Kind of slow

So I received this tuner, along with some other Monoprice guitar goodies with relatively low expectations. This product met those expectations splendidly. The casing seems sturdy enough, and the button is responsive. The pedal passes signal when it's supposed to without any noticeable coloration (both on the bypass and the output).

The downside is that it doesn't seem to work properly. Out of the box, everything was reading as "B". Thinking I had the settings wrong, I went through them all, verified it wasn't set to a flat or that the pitch setting was weird (the options are fairly simple), and still got a whole lot of "B". Then, randomly, it started working for certain strings (D and A). Then, after about 3 minutes of fiddling, unplugging it, verifying connections, making sure that my guitar wasn't so poorly out of tune that I was simply confused, and breaking a string to try and get it to read anything other than a B (I got it go to F... right before the string broke)... the pedal started working. It isn't a fast tuner by any means, but when it works it's serviceable. Once it started working, it only farted out on me a couple of times (and they might have been a result of me actually playing the guitar and confusing the thing). Turned the pedal off and will play around with it more to determine if the initial weirdness is going to be an ongoing issue or if it was a one-time deal. Either way, I wouldn't use this thing in any sort of professional capacity. If it failed on me once, chances are that it'll fail on me again (probably when I really, really need it to not).

    Hello Aaron,

Thank you for your review and my apologies for the issues you have experienced with PID 611220. It seems like the item may possibly be defective. I just wanted to confirm if it is still working fine or if you are continuing to have issues with PID 611220.

Thanks for the reply! I tested the pedal a bit more last night, and using it is an exercise in frustration. It has particular difficulty picking up the low "E", and alternates readings of the "D" string as either a perfectly in-tune "D" or a slightly sharp "A". So to answer your question, I'm still having problems with it.

    Hello Aaron,

My apologies on the delayed response. Thank you for that info. I see that an RMA for a replacement has already been set up. I will add to the RMA that we had spoke regarding the defective unit. Again, thank you for your review and I do apologize for any inconvenience with the 611220.

Pros: Nice clear and big digital display is great for reading off the floor. Allows bypass and can use batteries if you dont have a power adaptor.

Works well so far, glad I got it.
