5-Watt Guitar Amplifier, Portable Recorder, and USB Audio Interface
You will always be ready for a performance or recording when you have this 5-watt Guitar Amplifier, Portable Recorder, and USB Audio Interface from Monoprice!
This little 5-watt amp delivers a big sound with plenty of loudness and clarity for ad hoc outdoor performances. It has a built-in guitar distortion effect, so you can get great sound without needing external processors. In addition to the 1/4" guitar cable input, it features a 3.5mm microphone input, so you can add vocals to your performance.
A 3.5mm auxiliary input allows you to connect a smartphone or music player. The music will then play through the amp with your guitar and/or vocals in the mix. If you don't want to carry around an extra device, just plug your microSD card into the amp and play your music directly. It supports playback of mp3, wav, and wma audio files.
The microSD card is also used for audio recordings. You can record your guitar performance, along with any mic or aux inputs, to 128 Kbps mp3 files on the microSD card.
An added feature is the ability to plug the amplifier into a PC or Mac using the included mini USB cable. The amplifier is true plug 'n play, so no drivers disks are needed. Your PC or Mac will automatically install the drivers it needs for a USB speaker system.
The amplifier is powered by an internal 1500mAh battery.

PROS: Small, easy to use and sound is pretty good for a small portable amp. Great for quick practice or travel.
CONS: No real cons.
PROS: Very durable.
Easy to use.
Great rechargeable battery life!
Despite other reviews it is rather clean when dialed in properly.
CONS: It does not attract hot women or peel paint off of hotel walls.
PROS: Small, easy to use, MP3 playback, nice "fuzz" sound, plenty loud.
CONS: A little "cheap" feeling, hard to get a "clean" sound out of it.
PROS: All of the love from this review is based on the price point. Cables click in solid and buttons have a solid click to them. Users manual is adequate at best but I think it's very easy to figure out. 4th button from left is marked M for mode. Scroll thru modes from there. I have been able to play MP3s on a microSD card, record my guitar and upload it to the Mac with NO PROBLEM. As for the battery life, I could not be more satisfied. Do NOT step on this product with a hobnailed boot.
CONS: Wait until it goes on sale for $19.99. The waiting is the hardest part. I think Tom Petty said that but probably not about the Monoprice 611700. Still, at 25 bones it's a keeper. Monoprice RULES!
PROS: This is my second purchase of this product. My son-in-law borrowed my first one, and I haven't seen it since. For the size, and what is intended to be the product should be a Consumer's Digest "Best buy". The quality is above average, the user-options are great, and for what it is - the sound is good. An ideal product for at-home practicing.
CONS: None that I can think of.
PROS: Size, volume
PROS: The sound quality isn't wonderful, but when you take into consideration the size of the unit and its price, its surprisingly good without distortion even cranked up all the way - which is loud enough to annoy most of the people in your house. I accidently unplugged it from my laptop last night at 7 PM and found it still playing (volume down really low) at 10 AM the next day. The battery life may be less cranked up louder, but its pretty good! Works as a USB hard drive too so you don't need an adaptor to put audio files on the SD card. All features (even the media next/prev keys) work under Linux.
CONS: The unit won't record to the PC as a spare USB Audio input, only to the SD card. EQ only works when playing from SD card. No ability to "slow down" an mp3 for play-along (although you can use your PC to do that and write it to the SD card at the lower speed).
PROS: it definitely is a good amp for how little it is and I recommend it for everyone. Great sound will come out of it if you play with the volume/tone knobs including the guitar ones. The belt clip is perfect for their 1.5 foot 1/4 inch cable witch is a big solution to cluttered cables on the floor. you can even walk around without worrying about the cables.
CONS: if you want it loud it will get loud but the sound may be a little off since you have to turn tone all the way up to get it loud enough to fill a large space
Here's something musical and sound lovers on tour might use while traveling with their MP3 player listening to a audiobook, music, poetry, radio, PHONE -or- typing out their daily PC email cycling journal while listening to something pleasant -or- RECORDING narrated touring thoughts, sounds and acquaintances -or- playing a preferred musical INSTRUMENT or microphone amplified along the cycle trail road side, park or camp. It could be used on the premises of a B&B rooming house, continental hotel, motel, cafe or guest room and landscape. Its a small 9 ounce speaker with a built in 5 Watt amplifier and recorder powered by a internal rechargeable battery fitted inside a small box that is connected with a cable to a sound activating device or plug in a microSD memory card.
5-Watt Guitar Amplifier, Portable Recorder, and USB Audio Interface
Paid $37.37 for it including shipping. Has a 30 day money back offer but I'm satisfied.
Arrived by USPS in three days (Fri-Mon) and has a nice clear sound from low to high range tones but no deep subwoofer response. I like it and it sounds much like my compared to 12" speaker amp but not as loud or heavy. While listening to it plugged into the PC it charged the battery at the same time. With the volume cranked up all the way its loud and distorts. After a couple weeks of use the distortion seems to be going away at maximum volume.
Checked battery duration and the amps internal battery lasted 18 plus hours at room temperature listening to mp3 music files copied to my microSDHC memory card (can use up to 32 GB) from my PC computer. My old USB wall charger (not included) took 2 hours to charge the battery and the PC cable connection (included) less then 2 hours. While my USB wall charger was working I could listen to the mp3 files play or unplug the microSD card for quieter charging or check to see if the battery is fully charged.
Wish I could shuffle the mp3 files and see what's playing for future reference.
There's two heavy plastic loops on back for a strap (not included) to attach to the bicycle or person which I haven't figured out yet how I'll use it for myself. Love the plastic belt clip which converts to a stand for the speaker on my PC tray, chair or ground. For waterproofing I slip it into a one gallon zip lock plastic freezer bag.
Didn't care much for the mini lapel microphones bought elsewhere all though they work close to one's lips. Still looking for a microphone to record water, storms, birds and other wildlife while bicycle touring.
Well that's about it. I won't be returning this multi-use product because its well worth it to me to have while bicycle touring, around home and instrument playing wherever.
PROS: Many uses
CONS: Wish I could see which mp3 file was playing.
It sounds good through headphones and also works fine if I patch it through my small practice amp or home stereo.
I can record my daily practice sessions and song ideas and than playback and listen to it all and work on any mistakes or needed changes, I can also swap my ideas to my laptop and edit the files and work on entire songs, this lil guy is VERY versatile! It has been PERFECT in every way for me since it arrived last week! Like one reviewer stated it would have been nice to have a file delete option on this unit itself but, it's really no big deal that it doesn't, I wasn't looking for 296 track recording studio quality but when I play back files they sound excellent enough! In my opinion this was really well worth getting and so glad I did! It also being rechargeable that will save me a fortune on batteries! It really is a great deal and so convenient!
Thanks Monoprice! You guy's always Rock! \m/
PROS: Convenient, practical, easy to use, records/plays back, totally portable, excellent
CONS: None really
