Don't expect a crisp HD quality picture

Pros: Works as described, fits well.

Cons: Doesn't magically revamp the graphics of the Wii.

We bought this hoping that it would make the graphics display a little more crisp on our HDTV. It was easy enough to use and worked pretty well. There are different settings that you can output on the Wii to see if any of them look better that the other. When I used it I was hoping that it would magically upscale the Wii to almost the quality of a PS3 for example, but I learned pretty quickly that it was an impossible task even for this little gadget. The converter worked well, and did display the Wii at a better resolution than before but don't expect it to completely revamp your graphics because at the end of the day it still looks like a Wii. I would recommend this as an alternative to the composite or a/v cords that come with the Wii.

It works well, but HD signal from Wii is not terrific... I don't know if it's the adapter or the Wii...

Pros: Just plug it in. Inexpensive.

    Cons: None.

This was exactly what I needed to plug in my Wii through my new HDMI only surround sound receiver. What can I say? It was inexpensive and it just works.

    Not working on my TV...

    Pros: None yet...

Cons: Not so plug and play

Have a Samsung LN-S4051D which is 720P. Have Wii set on EDTV / HDTV. (480p) and it works on the component cable, but not with the HDMI adapter.

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 9742. If I may ask, can we test the converter with a different HDMI cable? What about with a different input on the display? Also, please ensure that both the Wii and the TV are turned off prior to plugging in the adapter. Once the adapter and HDMI cable have been connected, please turn on the TV first and the Wii second. This will help avoid possible handshaking issues. Please let me know if the problem persists along with the order number and I would be happy to assist you further. My apologies again for the trouble and I hope this helps!

New life for an old console

Pros: Both HDMI audio and separated "headphone jack" audio supported.

Cons: This adaptor is a tad-pricey, about half the price of a refurb-Wii thus the one-star reduction.

I use the Monoprice 30" IPS Monitor with a Monoprice HDMI cable for video all hooked through the Monoprice Wii adaptor plus run a Monoprice audio cable to my 5.1 computer surround sound system. If Monoprice made an audio system, this endorsement would be complete.

I do not own a TV, but still want to play with the Wii. I love the fact I can play with no television required! No giant bundle of composite or component cables required! This little device gives new life to my old console.

Be sure to play with the Wii's configuration settings per your monitor: 480p and wide screen as appropriate.

There can be a (rare) sync issue (green scan lines). Unplug and re-plug the entire adaptor into the Wii while the HDMI is attached to the powered-on monitor.
