8 Outlet Home Theatre Power Center w/ Data and Video Protection - 3500 Joules

Give your home theater system the gift of clean power with this Home Theater Power Center from Monoprice!

Your home theater is your baby. You've lovingly selected just the right receiver and speakers. Your video display is mounted just right and your blu-ray collection is filled with your favorite movies and videos. Why risk damage to your equipment caused by something as easily preventable as dirty AC input power?

This Home Theater Power Center is designed with a standard equipment form factor, so that it will fit right in with the other equipment in your cabinet or rack.It is rated for 3500 joules and includes 8 power outlets on the rear of the unit, 4 switched and 4 unswitched. The LED display on the front panel shows the actual measured voltage level of the incoming power, while smaller LEDs below the digital display indicate power on, protection, grounding, and alarm status.

The circuitry within the power center both cleans the incoming power and provides surge protection. If an incoming power spike exceeds the rated threshold, the power center will trip its circuit breaker to prevent damage to your equipment.

In addition to providing AC protection, the Home Theater Power Center includes inline protection for RF coaxial cables and for RJ45 Ethernet cables. The power center features a heavy duty 5.5-foot power cord and a 90-degree type power plug.

    Features:

    • 8 surge protected, filtered AC outlets

    was good until it broke

Pros: sleek look, seems to be a good design, size is great

Cons: no all your cables with plug next to each other in the back of the unit, will randomly stop working reading the wrong voltage prompting you to call the power company and make a fool of yourself.

started off great, clean looks, appeared to be working until one day when it stopped. It consistently read voltages between 139-149 not allowing anything to turn on (doing its job) Tried this in several of my outlets same result. Prompted me to call my power supply company they came out and checked the voltages at the outlet 123. So like I said as long as the volt meter inside doesn't break on you its great, otherwise its a nightmare. Not sure what monoprice will do with me here, a repair or a new product, or if it is even worth trying another one due to several of the other reviewers on here having the same problems. You know that old Irish definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome.

    Overvoltage protection is broken

Pros: Good price for the features.

    Cons: Two defective units.

My dad ordered me a power center for Christmas. Like the review below, it worked great for about two months, then one day it started reading 135V and tripping the voltage protection circuit. I verified with multi-meter, electrician, and power company that my service was dead-on at 120V. I RMA'd the defective unit, and the replacement unit has the exact same problem the first time I plug it in. Not to throw the baby out with the bath water - I have been buying from Monoprice for probably approaching a decade, and have always been supremely satisfied with their products and customer service.

    Worked great for a month

Pros: Sleek unit, easy to read led, well labeled outputs

Cons: Quickly broke disabling most of my home theatre. No easy way for user to adjust/calibrate voltage reading. Wall gang outlets used on back of unit so outlets are rotated 90 degrees from vertical limiting the use of low voltage transformer plugs

Unit worked great for almost two months actually, then switched off one day indicating line voltage over threshold alarm LED indicates 134v. Checked actual line input with multimeter, reading 120.5v . Unplugged/replugged to no avail - changed outlets still no joy. Wouldn't recommend product 9290 until they work out the bugs with the alarm circuitry.

Pros: Looks nice, clean, half always on and half controlled plugs is really smart

Cons: Only had for 2 weeks but none yet

I've always eyed these at the big box store but, to me and my usage, never felt the price tag justified the results. At this price, I couldn't pass it up and it really is a great addition to my set up. I'm sure it's common with these units but I didn't realize/wasn't expecting half the plugs to be "always on" and half to be controlled by the button on front. That's really smart and perfect for my system to have my DVR and Cable box and Google TV to be "always on" and the other units to easily be turned on/off with just 1 touch of the button. The unit looks really clean and I feel it actually adds to the "look" of my system.

Pros: A necessary piece of equipment in a Home Theater project, product looks good and provides enough plugs for my needs

When considering this item just remember you will want your plugs at the back of a rack system so consider mounting issues. Once installed it works
