12 Outlet Power Surge Protector w/ 2 Built-In USB Charger Ports - 4230 Joules

Protect your electronic equipment from damaging voltage and current spikes with this Monoprice surge protector!

This model includes twelve protected power outlets, 4 of which are positioned for AC power adapters, and a 2-port 2.1A USB charger. The clear plastic tabs on the sides of the unit illuminate green to indicate when the surge protector is providing protection to your equipment and when a proper ground is detected.

When the protection circuitry has been fully consumed by power and current spikes, the protection light will no longer illuminate, indicating that the surge protector should be replaced. When the grounded tab is not illuminated it indicates that there is a problem with the house wiring and that the ground is not properly connected to the power outlet.

The surge protector has 4 keyholes on the back, allowing it to be secured to a wall or other surface.

USB Ports Failed on Mine

Pros: Two 2.1 A USB ports.
Four transformer outlets.
Dust covers on outlets.

Cons: Both USB outlets failed within two weeks.
The grounded and protected lights along the side are very large and bright. They cannot be shut off.

I bought it mainly because of the 2.1 A USB outlets. Because they failed, I'll be requesting an RMA. I don't think I'll take another chance on this product. If a second one fails, I'll be out the cost of shipping twice.

Nice unit - no go with RPI2 unfortunately

Pros: Lots of outlets. Well spaced. Safety plugs. Built in high amp USB ports.

Cons: Large foot print. Mounting holds underneath are far apart - be nice is there were a few more in between but a minor grip. Not enough voltage for a Raspberry Pi via USB

I was replacing a 12 port belkin with the swivel ports which has a smaller foot print but the plugs seems to break too easy and no usb. This unit does the job well. The light indicators for power and protection are cool looking. Has a low profile, and a long enough plug. I put it in a closest in the middle of the house which is our "media closet". Filled it up right away including 2 fios boxes, Intel Nuc, URC remote control equipment, 6x6 HDMI switch, 24 port Ethernet switch, and other misc devices. All works smoothly.

The usbs were an added bonus one of which went to a chromcast. The other I was hoping to power a Raspberry Pi 2 because of the 2.1 amp rating but amp is just half the equation. Voltage is the other half and the Pi is very picky if it is not getting a steady 5V current. Without a proper current you can end up with stability issues with the software and can even damage the power regulator of the Pi's. With the Pi 2 (and the Pi 1's with updated firmware I believe) it will actually let the user know if it is getting under voltage and under current by showing graphic icons in the upper right corner of the video. This does happen with this power strip unfortunately. Every once in a while is ok but it was happening pretty regularly running Kodi. I was half expecting this but figured it was worth a shot. I will have to stick with the $15 USB power supply I bot off amazon specifically for the Pi.

But still, happy with the purchase and would recommend.

Seems to work just fine

Pros: Ample cordage
Solid price
More than adequate protection for the purpose
Ample room for plugs

Cons: Bigger than expected

As other reviews have indicated, the 'Protection' light on this thing is very bright. Not a big deal in my office, where it's located, but that should factor into any decisions regarding this thing. It's also very large. Again, not a big deal for my uses... but if you have a smaller space in mind for this, you might be disappointed.

All that aside, however, the device functions perfectly and is adequate for my needs. Ample protection, low cost, and it doesn't feel overly cheap like some other brands I've used previously. Would purchase again if I needed another surge protector. Of course, the only way to know for sure is to put a surge through it and see what happens... but I'm, uh, not going to do that. =P

Pros: 12-outlets...some with spacing for power blocks.
Green lights around two edges.
6-ft cord.
USB with iPhone

Cons: I wish the plug for the electrical outlet was flat....would save space around my outlet.

I purchased two of these. Very nice look. I like the green lights that let you know when the power is on. So far, so good, it's working fine.
