Speaker Volume Controller RMS 100W (Slide Type) - White

This is a slide-type wall plate volume control for speaker systems with power ratings of up to 100 watts per channel and impedance ratings of 4 to 16 ohms. This slider control can be set to one of twelve positions, including the minimum (off) and maximum volume settings.

The wall plate mounts into a standard single-gang, low-voltage wall bracket (not included) and has inputs and outputs for one pair of stereo speaker wires (4 input connections and 4 output connections). It can accept speaker wire in sizes from 14 to 22 gauge and provides a frequency response range of 35 Hz to 20 kHz (+0/-2db) at the full power rating of 100 watts per channel.

Please note: This volume control does not include a wall mounting bracket.

    Support Files:

    Specifications
Input 2 channels, 100 watts per channel
Output 2 channels, 4 to 16 ohms impedance matching
Frequency Response 35 Hz to 20 kHz (+0/-2 db) at rated power
Wire gauge 14 to 16 AWG
    Material Plastic ABS
    Depth 2 3/4"

When setting up the speaker volume controls, it is important to match the impedance of your speaker system with the load rating of your amplifier. This is done by setting the jumpers on the volume control to compensate for the number of speakers you have in a parallel configuration and the impedance level of the speakers.

If using a single pair of speakers rated at the same load level as your amplifier, you don't need to make any changes - just leave the jumper in the default x1 position. However, if your speakers are of a different impedance level and/or you have more than one set of speakers in parallel, please refer to the following chart as a guide for setting the jumpers on the speaker volume control.

Note that for any speakers wired in series, the overal impedance level is the sum of each speaker. So two 4 ohm speakers wired in series is the same impedance as a single 8 ohm speaker.

    Great Price, Great Product

Pros: well made, sturdy and a great price

Cons: plugs tend to slip off the connectors easily when putting back into the opening, check your volume before screwing back into the wall, or maybe a drop of superglue to keep plug firmly attached once wires have been inserted.

I purchased 6 of these volume controls to do an upgrade on a previous system, the price is low, but the volume control is well made and works perfectly, One thing I will say, if you are connecting them to a 4 or 6 speaker selector switch (also available via MONOPRICE), be sure that you don't get your input and output wires switched, I had one set of input/output wires switched at the volume control and there was almost no volume through any of the speakers. these switches take care of impedance matching, once the plugs were switched around, everything sounded great!

    Fixed My Issues Immediately

    Pros: Looks good.
    Functions well.

Cons: A little stiff in the overall action.

I ordered these because I was having a lot of noise and static in my speakers. The old volume controls also popped every time I adjusted them. They were the rotary knob type and I also wanted something that was easy to tell what the volume was set at. These dropped right into the old 1 gang box and hooked up easily. All problems solved. They are a little stiff in the slider action. This will probably ease over time, but they are never going to super smooth. However, they cost less than half of some of the others I looked at, so I am not going to nit pick because they function extremely well.

Pros: For 5 years I placed numerous orders with Monoprice and I never had an occasion to return a product. I had always been pleased with the quality of the product received.

    Cons: Extremely poor quality product

On August 17, 2015 I ordered 23 Speaker Volume Controller RMS 75W (Slide Type), 8245. After unboxing 4 units and attempting to install 3 units of the 23 units ordered, I found one inoperable and others difficult to move the slide up and down. It was apparent this product design was defective in that it was made with an inferior quality slide mechanism.

The time spent in installing and uninstalling and testing three units led me to a logical conclusion that the design of the product was faulty and the failed units were not an aberration. I do not have the time or inclination to go through a lengthy process of replacing defective units with more defective units. If anyone at Monoprice simply takes a look at these controls they will confirm my conclusion they are an inferior product.

Clearly, this product is inferior. Disappointed customer.

    Slider volume

Pros: Works great if you are careful. Doesn't distort sound or attenuate.

Cons: Slider switch will come loose from the control if the volume is not moved in a slow controlled movement.

Works well once you have broken the switch a few times and had to remove the cover to repair.
Knob would be better for kids or guest usage.
