Monoprice brings custom in-wall speakers to new levels of afforability with our line of Monoprice Brand Premium in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. These new high fidelity units deliver the high quality craftsmanship and construction you've come to expect from Monoprice brand products at a fraction of what you would expect to pay for them retail.

In-wall and in-ceiling speakers allow you to expand your listening environment throughout your entire home as well as remove the clutter of giant box speakers giving you back your living space. In either case it's a win-win situation for those who desire high fidelity and those who put emphasis on decor.

DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber cones are light weight yet extremely rigid providing very precise audio with minimal distortion normally caused by cone flex. Our Kevlar® speakers are matched with an equally precise silk membrane dome tweeter made of titanium fiber thread and a high quality crossover network to ensure high fidelity and low distortion. The lower distortion levels allow the speaker to be driven harder and handle higher peak power levels. The main benefit our Kevlar® speakers are the clarity and fidelity at which they produce audio.

    • Light and rigid, well balanced, yellow woven Kevlar® cone woofers for distortion free reproduction
    • Oversized magnets for more impactful bass
    • Precision titanium silk membrane dome tweeters for sweeter highs and pure sonic clarity
    • Pivoting tweeters allow you to point the accoustics to the prime listening position for a more accurate and immersive sonic experience
    • Adjustable crossover switch allows you to match the speakers to the sonic characteristics of your listening environment and the location in which you place them
    • 50W nomimal and 100W maximum power handling capacity ensures that these drivers won't be overdriven or easily blown out
    • 8 ohms standard impediance ensure they can be safely driven by even the most modest home theater recievers

    Pros: Good audio quality

Cons: Cheap mounting screws. Much larger hole needed than you might think.

These are nice speakers. I was careless in my research and had visions of replacing my 5 1/4" RV ceiling speakers with these. No way would they fit, and because of the small size of the plywood backing glued into my RV ceiling there was no way I could enlarge the hole without tearing up the ceiling liner and damaging some of the wires in the area. Also, the four mounting tabs do not go less than 1/2", so you can't mount them to anything thinner than that (not a problem for sheetrock, but RV ceilings are less than 1/4). If you tighten the mounting screws, be advised one of mine siezed, the soft screw head stripped, and I had to drill it out.

Shockingly great speakers for a shockingly low price

    Pros: 1. Sound Quality
    2. Build Quality
    3. Ease of installation

Cons: This is a huge con: Please redesign the treble cut switch so that it's accessible from the front of the speaker after removing the grill. It's incredibly frustrating to have to uninstall the speaker and then remove the (optional) back enclosure just to experiment with which setting will sound best.

I purchased 3 pairs of these along with their matching enclosures (PID 11942) for use in my kitchen, dining room, and garage. They arrived faster than expected, and there was hardly a scratch on the very ample packaging. My immediate unboxing impressions were: wow these have some heft, and these might look too large in my ceiling.

I've had these installed for about a month now. Installation was straightforward. The back enclosures are an exact/perfect fit. These speakers are very bright sounding, so I strongly recommend (as did another reviewer) to just go ahead and set the treble cut switch to -3. I didn't do that, and ended up uninstalling all 3 pairs to make that change and install them a second time. Also, despite having an overall 11" diameter they don't look too large in my spaces. I have a relatively small dining room and kitchen with 8' ceilings, and these still manage to disappear.

These speakers sound fantastic! They provide a pretty wide sound stage and have great bass, clean mids, and detailed highs (at the -3 setting). I did not listen to them without the back enclosure installed, but am convinced they do indeed improve sound quality (and also keep the blown insulation off of the speakers). I'm powering them with a 65wpc 6 stereo zone amplifier. They can play loud and very clean (louder than we need). They've brought a lot of joy to our family and are used daily.

    Pros: Install easily
    Tweeters tilt

Cons: Instructions did not tell me what to do with black sealer

I installed these speakers in a garage so audio quality may not have been as important in my install as it may be for others. I really like these speakers and for the price I would be surprised if you can do better. Installed 4ea in a 24'x24' space and connected them to a 2 channel amp. I also bought the back boxes and I would recommend them. The speakers come with a tool to remove the grills and a small amount of sealer. Nowhere in the instructions does it tell you what to do with the sealer and if they intend that to go between the back boxes and the speakers there is not enough or at least I couldn't stretch it that far. I did not encounter any problems with the connectors at the speakers or those on the boxes. It's easy enough to tell if you are in the connector by giving a little tug. The tweeters do angle a small amount and that also works fine. I agree that the base response is a little weak but you cannot expect too much from an 8" speaker. Installation is easy and the clips pinch the ceiling material well and tighten easily. If you have problems removing the grills as I did you can use the mounting tabs to help push the grill out. Hold the speaker face down in both hands and with the tabs turned so they will slide, gently push the tabs down. When you feel the grill move slightly turn the speaker ninety degrees and push on the other two tabs. Do this a couple times and the grill will pop right out. What you are doing is pushing on the back side of the grill with the mounting screws so be gentle. Overall I am very happy with these speakers and I don't think a better value can be found.

    Pros: Good quality
    Easy installation
    Great sound for the price
    Blend well in the ceiling

    Cons: None

I am an audiophile recently installed these speakers throughout my house and could not be happier.

There are several reviews complaining about the bass which can be inexpensively corrected with a couple simple tweaks.

The speakers should be used with the 11942 back enclosure which unfortunately makes the bass is bloated, and undefined as supplied without damping .

To damp use a 1'-1.5" convoluted foam mattress (ripples facing inward) to line the sides and bottom which damps the enclosure dropping the resonant frequency. The result is full rich sound with good imaging after adjusting the high frequency attenuation for the specific room acoustics, -3db worked the best for my home.

    Nice speakers for the price

    Pros: Great price
    Sound quality is good
    Speaker build seems good

Cons: Speakers are heavy. Might want to consider the mounting kit if you're mounting on dropped ceiling tiles.

These speakers came highly regarded on a few A/V forums so I decided to spring for 2 pairs of them for our shop. It's sole purpose is just to play some light background music so they didn't need to be super loud. Mounting instructions were pretty clear and straight forward so I didn't have any problems installing them. Sound quality is good (though I'm playing them at fairly low volume). My only suggestion is that if you're using them in a dropped ceiling (with ceiling tiles), you may want to consider the mounting kit to reduce the amount of load on the edges of the ceiling tile . I managed to break a few ceiling tiles because of the weight of the speakers bent and snapped the tiles. They speakers are pretty hefty in weight and the mounting mechanism (which consists of a screw in swivel tab) doesn't really distribute the weight over a large area.
