Headphone Splitter with Separate Volume Controls

Split your headphone or line out signal and independently control the volume levels using this Headphone Splitter with Separate Volume Controls from Monoprice!

This simple 3.5mm splitter allows you to distribute a single audio source to two headphones or output devices. This perfect for allowing two people to listen to the same source or to distribute to two different amplifiers. Each line features an independent volume control wheel, so each person can enjoy the audio at the volume level they prefer.

You can also use this splitter as a means of injecting a microphone signal into the source device. For example, you can plug this into your phone and then use a pair of headphones and a separate microphone for hands free communications.

Note that this should NOT be used to combine two audio source signals into a single input. Doing so could exceed signal strength limits and cause damage to your equipment. The only proper way to combine two audio signals is by using an audio mixer.

last a while but not forever

Pros: This headphone splitter was so useful to have two separate volume controls. It's not the audiophile solution, but very useful when you need to listen to something and need to separate volumes. It worked great as advertised for years.

Cons: After 4 years of use, my cable is showing its age. It's now begining to split at one of the connections, and the protective casing has cracked.

Monoprice, you have a good product here. It just doesn't stand up forever. Is there any way to get a replacement?

    Hi JP,

Thank you for your review on PID 7116. I am truly sorry to hear about the wear this splitter is showing. Unfortunately, since this headphone splitter was purchased four years ago, we would not be able to provide a replacement as this product is only covered with a one year warranty. My apologies for any inconvenience and please let me know if there is anything else that I can assist you with.

    Pros: Separate volume controls

    Cons: Cord is very thin

I love having separate volume controls on my headphone splitter. The audio is unchanged and the volume adjusters work great. I just wish that the cord was thicker, I'm not sure how long it will last.

I've used this splitter for a year now and it continues to hold up. I really like that there is some length of wire that connected the ends of the splitter, so that you can plug it into a phone with a case without the case blocking it. Some other splitters are more of a box shape, which has this problem.

The separate volume controls work great and go from silent to full volume.

    Pros: Length of the splitter
    Separate volume adjustment

I love that the length of the splitter is longer than ones I usually see. Also, it's nice that there is volume control for each side. All of mine that I ordered seem to work properly.

Pros: Splits a 3.5mm audio plug into 2 completely independent 3.5mm audio jacks. Volume adjusted for one of the 2 jacks does not affect volume adjustment on the other (unlike the first one I got).
My testing has shown that both the defective one I received first AND the replacement allow connection of a '3.5mm Stereo plug to RCA' adapter to one of the 2 jacks, which would normally mono-tize(merge Stereo channels in both left and right ear) both jacks in a normal splitter, WITHOUT mono-tizing the other. This is VERY useful as my subwoofer amp is fed the signal from the headphone out jack on the front of my receiver. When I want to use headphones from the headphone jack, I have to remove the connection to my subwoofer amp to hear things properly. Otherwise, I get both left and right channels playing together in both the left side and the right side. For something like a FPS game, that takes what little 3D sound effect you get with 'stereo' completely out of the picture, damaging the experience.
These individually adjusted jacks will enable me to eliminate that problem! :D Was NOT expecting that.

Cons: Wire gauge is VERY small.

Very happy since defective one was replaced with properly functioning one. ^_^
