    Quick RJ-45 Network Cable Tester

When a LAN connection fails, you can swap out the cable to see if it is the problem or you can reach for the Monoprice LAN Quicker 009!

This cable tester is designed to troubleshoot RJ45 LAN cables, both UTP and STP. It not only tells you if the cable passes or fails the test, it indicates which pins fail and whether they are open, shorted, or crossed. This allows you to easily see if the cable is your problem and what you need to do to fix it, if it is.

The tester has two basic testing modes: Auto and Step.

In auto mode it makes a single pass over the cable and gives a result. It shows whether the cable passed or failed and, if it failed, the type of failure (open, short, or cross) and the affected pins/wires.

In step mode the tester steps through each wire independently with each press of the Test button. This allows you to get detailed results for a cable that may have multiple types of failures. For example, you can see that pin 1 is open, pins 2 and 3 are crossed, and that pin 4 is shorted.

WARNING!!! Do not test live circuits as it could cause damage to the tester unit or personal injury.

Note: This product has a universal card packaging that is used for PIDs 8129, 8130, and 8131, with the individual model marked on the back. The front of the packaging includes functionality tags for all three testers combined. Therefore, the packaging erroneously indicates that this tester is capable of testing HDMI, Coax, and RJ12 cables, which it is not designed to do. For HDMI cable testing, please use PID 8131. For Coax and RJ11/12 testing, use PID 8129.

Also note that the manual for this tester shows test results for RJ12, Coax, and USB cables. While it is electrically capable testing these types of cables, the necessary connectors or adapters are not included with the tester.

    Easy to use
This little tester saves time and money. connect it and with the one button operation quickly test your newly made cable. Green means go and red means Oh no. Make sure the cable is completely unplugged from any source or you'll fry the tester.

PROS: Small, Lightweight, Easy to Use.

CONS: Case is a little flimsy, no instructions but if you're making your own cables, you should be able to figure it out.

    Works good
Works good for what it is, a simple continuity tester that saved me on more than one cable that was made wrong.

PROS: Good price and easy to use

    CONS: None

You definitely can't fault this thing for anything. It's a quick and good rj45 cable tester! I sort of wish I had bought the version that also tests f-type coax/bnc/and rj11 cables. I found out that if your running Ethernet you almost always come across some coax that needs testing :) or maye a phone line or 2...
But for what it is and does it does very well.
    Dirt cheap too. Love monoprice.

    PROS: Quick
    Does exactly what it says
    Comes with a 9v

CONS: None really as long as all you need it for is rj45 cables

    Did the job
Used this to test CAT5E cables, previously used for phone lines, that I repurposed with keystones and RJ-45 connectors. I didn't know which cables ran to which rooms or if I had attached the RJ-45 jack correctly (first time doing this). This tool allowed me to fix issues with the RJ-45 connectors and identify which cables went where.

    PROS: Easy to use

CONS: As others have mentioned, the terminator can be hard to remove.

    worked great
used it for about 50 connections so far and it worked great. Unfortunately I did have trouble with some 23 AWG cat 6 cable connections, but this tester found the problems right away. I highly recommend this product

PROS: easy to use, caught different issues I had (open connections, crossed wires).
