Pros: You can get really short lengths in the untwisted part of the connector.

Cons: Does not hold the cable jacket tightly.

No RJ45 connector is a breeze to install. The inserts actually make it easier to insert the wires. You just have to follow the instructions provided by Monoprice. They crimp the wires fine. HOWEVER, the crimp for the cable jacket is inadequate. Their is not enough plastic on the plug to hold the cable really tight. I don't think this is a problem with plug and forget applications. If you have applications that require the cable to be frequently unplugged, I can see the jacket slipping.

Pros: They're inexpensive. If you have a guide of some kind, or if you can use The Force, then these are great for you.

Cons: It's virtually impossible to get all eight wires to the end of the connector without them getting crossed up, because there are no plastic guides inside the connector to help the wires on their way. No matter how you hold the wires in your hand before putting them inside this connector, they'll be shuffled at random by the time you get to the end. Knowing this, I'd have bought different ends.

    Hello,

Thank you for your review on PID 7267. I just wanted to mention that inserts are included with the plugs to help guide the wires in. If I may ask, were the wires getting crossed up even when the inserts were in use? If it helps, we have the following installation guide:
    http://www.monoprice.com/manual/How%20to%20-%20crimp%20RJ45%20w%20inserts.pdf

In case you did not receive the inserts, please let me know and I will be happy to setup a replacement for you. My apologies for the trouble and I hope this helps!

    Worked fine for me

Pros: Worked fine with my old RadioShack RJ-45 tool and CAT-6 UTP cable I cut from another Monoprice cable assembly. Connection speed is fine.

Cons: The two (2) plastic bits that are supposed to lock the jacket into the connector seem pretty weak to me. I'm curious how much force would pull out the wires. My cables won't be subject to a lot of bending or stress, so I'm not worried.

For me, the tiny clear plastic wire separator is easier to use than cramming wires into a CAT-5 style connector and hoping for the best. Get all your wires organized outside of the connector, nip the ends straight, and then insert. I don't think it's fair to blame a product for being difficult to see. 24AWG wire is small. Ethernet connectors are small. That's just the way it is.

    Pros: Price

Cons: The second part, the plastic tap

The pictures of this product are miss leading. In none of them is it clear that there's an additional part to correctly use these RJ-45s, the plastic tap. I work with a teelcom technician who has terminated 10 of 1,000s of RJ-45. He said he won't use them. When you're terminating RJ-45s in field, you don't time to play around with an additional part that you can hardly even see.

Pros: Good product, easy to use the wire guides make it easy to assemble.

Cons: Didn't fix my rpoblem with the original cable that I finally threw away. But Monoprice gave me a store credit as a refund.
