5 PAIRS Of High-Quality Gold Plated Speaker Banana Plugs, Closed Screw Type

Banana plugs make speaker installation a breeze. They are designed for use with amplifiers or speakers that use traditional binding posts. Not only is it easier to make the connection on the back of your amp, it is safer, with no chance of stray wire strands creating a short across contacts.

These high quality plugs are the closed screw type and can accept bare wire or spades. They are sized to fit speaker wire from 12 to 18 AWG. Each pair comes with one plug color coded red and the other coded black, for easy polarity identification.

The plug body is made of brass, which is then plated with gold to help prevent corrosion and ensure smooth connections.

This multi-pack includes five pairs of plugs, perfect for connecting the satellite and center channel speakers in a 5.1 channel setup.

    • Can accept bare wire or spades
    • Can accept 12 to 18 AWG speaker wires
    • Color coded black/red rings for maintaining proper polarity
    • Secure, positive contact with binding posts
    • Corrosion resistant, 24K gold plated brass plug
    • Each order includes FIVE pairs (10 plugs total)

The following video shows the differences between the various types of banana plugs and includes a demonstration of how to install each type.

Solid pieces able to take 12 AWG

Pros: Everything. Solid construction, tight connection, capable of 12 AWG connections and the ability to unscrew the plug connector from the base barrel. Nice.

    Cons: None found.

No complaints about the quality build on these banana plugs. I have them attached to 12 AWG and 16 AWG speaker cables for our home theater and they're doing their part to push out crisp sound. The plugs are connecting 12 AWG speaker wire to Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble IV speakers (for our rear and height speakers) and 16 AWG speaker wire from our Monoprice 4-Speaker Switch Selector unit to an Onkyo TX-NR747 receiver. All connections are tight and solid. On the 12 AWG speaker connections, the plugs will do this, for sure, as long as you do a good job on your speaker wire spiral around your bottom connection piece.

Three pairs of the plugs that I have received broke after first use, they dont fit into the slots any more. Rest of them are good so far.

    Difficult To Install

Pros: Once you finally construct them they are sturdy.

Cons: They take forever to fit together. I've worked in electronics for over 30 years and these connectors are some of the most difficult I've ever had to try to piece together without the threads binding to the wires or the connector. I definitely opt for ones that have a retaining screw rather than having to flair out the ends of the wire and wrap over the end of the connector.

These connectors are very touchy on the amount of wire that can protrude from the top to the connector prior to screwing on the banana portion. I use 12 AWG wire and had to trim and trim to get the banana end to thread onto the back portion of the connector. I've purchased others that had a retaining screw that are MUCH easier to construct. I would not purchase these again.
