1 PAIR OF High-Quality Gold Plated Speaker Banana Plugs, Open Screw Type

Banana plugs make speaker installation a breeze. They are designed for use with amplifiers or speakers that use traditional binding posts. Not only is it easier to make the connection on the back of your amp, it is safer, with no chance of stray wire strands creating a short across contacts.

These high quality plugs are the open screw type and can accept bare wire, spades, or other banana plugs. They are sized to fit speaker wire from 12 to 18 AWG. Each pair comes with one plug color coded red and the other coded black, for easy polarity identification.

The plug body is made of brass, which is then plated with gold to help prevent corrosion and ensure smooth connections.

    Features:

    • Can accept bare wire, spades, or other banana plugs
    • Can accept 12 to 18 AWG speaker wires
    • Color coded black/red rings for maintaining proper polarity
    • Secure, positive contact with binding posts
    • Corrosion resistant, 24K gold plated brass plug
    • Each order includes ONE pair (2 plugs total)

The video below shows the differences between the various types of banana plugs and includes a demonstration of how to install each type.

Good banana plugs of this type

Pros: Inexpensive, gets the job done, quick to connect wire to plug.

Cons: I used 16AWG OFC wire by Rocketfish, I could not get the wire up through the center of the plug, finding that the jacket for the wire was too thick. So I inserted the wire in the side and screwed down upon the wire. This clamp-type of mechanism is tenuous at best, sometimes just moving the cable into position I found that the wire pulled a bit out of the clamping screw.

Perhaps 14AWG or 12AWG wire would've worked better?

This is my first time using these, and while I think they worked as intended, I find that I'm not very fond of the connection method in attaching the speaker wire to the plug. I am rating this 5 stars because my dislike for the mechanism is not a fault in the product.

Pros: Look great, well made, easy to use.

    Cons: Nada.

Great price and quality. Just put your cables in, screw them down, and push the banana into the connectorzzz! SO GEWD!

Not good for 16 AWG wire

Pros: Install was easy after lots of trouble shooting.

Cons: Would not secure 16 gauge wire.
Red/Black washers leave too big of a gap.

The gap between the top of the screw and the plug was too big to hold onto 16 gauge wire. The only way I was able to use these was to remove the red and black indicators. Which of course means I had to mark up the plugs myself to keep track of +/-.

    Ideal for Parallel Speaker connections

When connecting multiple speakers to the same binding posts on an amplifier (I had a passive subwoofer), I found these banana plugs to be more useful than the closed end ones. These put less stress on the end of the connection and keep the connectors straighter and less likely to short out when you need to connect one banana plug into the back of another. They also take up less room behind my amplifier, allowing me to gain a 1/2 inch or more of space. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it makes a difference in tight spots.
