Pros: Size
Build quality

Cons: Monoprice doesn't sell the power cable to enabled powered ports

Well made and the price is right. Contains four standard type-A USB ports that operate at USB 2.0 speeds. Perfect for my needs (my laptop has only one working USB ports after years of wear and abuse). I connected my DJ controller and one USB harddrive to this hub without issue.

Pros: Works as described. It is compact and easy to transport.

Cons: Would be nice if it were USB 3.0 but for the price, absolutely cannot beat it.

A must have for a Tablet or Microsoft Surface with only one USB port.

4 port usb cube

Pros: Works

Cons: None yet

I have this connected to the end of a 50 ft. active usb 2.0 cable. I have a PC in my garage running 3 TV's through a Monoprice 4 port hdmi splitter. I needed a way to control the PC from inside. I mainly use just to wake the PC up with a wireless mouse. When I put it to sleep with my WMC remote I can't wake it back up. This solved my problem. Iv'e also plugged a usb 2.0 flash drive in and it also worked, with the mouse. Iv'e only used it with these two together. So far it's still working.

Good hub, what is up with optional ac adapter?

Pros: This hub does exactly what I wanted. Only giving 5 stars because the item has no information about the ac adapter it needs.

Will update review with higher rating as soon as I get the information about what kind of adapter is needed. preferably with the item listing updated to reflect this as well.

Hello Corey W,

Thank you for your review! In regard to your question about the AC adapter, a 5V 2A adapter is recommended. This will supply 500mAh of power per port. Without the adapter, the unit will share 500mAh between the 4 ports. The Outside Diameter (OD) is 3.5MM and the Inside Diameter (ID) is 1MM. We unfortunately do not carry the optional adapter at this time, however they can typically found in local electronic stores. Thank you again for the feedback and hope this helps!

Yes that does. Would obviously be convenient if I could get an adapter from you guys, but I should be able to find one with that information.

God little hug for general use

Pros: Compact design with DC-in jack for an optional power adapter to turn it into a powered hub.

Cons: Would be nice if it had a power light, but that's a minor issue.

This is a great little hub! I've had it for quite a while now and it has performed flawlessly.

Note, it is not a powered hub out of the box. It will work fine for connecting low-power or self-powered devices. Total power draw on a passive hub should not exceed 500mA for all 4 ports combined.

If you need more than that, then you'll need to add a 5V DC power adapter that's rated at 2A at least (preferably 2.5A+). And even then, it will only supply 500mA per port, so it won't work with devices that need more current, like many tablets and some phones that can require 2A or more to fast charge.

I have used this hub in both passive and powered mode with good results. It just works. Windows & Linux PC, PS3, Raspberry Pi, even tested it on my Android tablet (w/OTG cable). Pretty awesome, especially for the ridiculously low price.

Let me take a moment to clear up a common misconception about USB hubs.

Most USB 2.0 hubs are NOT designed to charge high current draw devices like tablets and smart phones. Even if you have a high current output port on your computer, the hub will not pass the power through to your device. 500mA per port is the USB 2.0 specification for power that most hubs follow.

If you want a hub for charging high current devices, then I suggest a dedicated multi-port charger like Monoprice item 10240. Or at least look for a hub that is spec'd for high current charging. These are not.

Hope this helps someone.
