    Tricky Driver Installation

    Cons: Flawed driver installation CD-ROM

The driver for this item is included on a CD-ROM. The first thing the installer tries to do is decompress two zip archives containing the necessary files. This won't work because it assumes that the drive containing the disk is where you will be installing from and, of course, it can't write the decompressed files to the CD-ROM. Unfortunately, if you copy all the files to a writable driver first and try to run the installer, it also fails. I had to manually decompress the zip files with a third-party compression app (7 zip, in my case, which is freeware) before the installation would work.

    Works but needs help

    Pros: It works

Cons: Poor physical design: does not anchor properly in the PCI card slot.

Couldn't find another 3.0 card on Monoprice, so had to buy this one. Both ports work but none of my Lexar 3.0 thumb drives work at 3.0, which I think is Lexar's problem. Toshiba and Seagate external drives work fine at 3.0.

Pros: Haven't found any yet as it isn't operating as USB3

Cons: loaded and removed software 8 times. Searched for better drivers....no luck, Every time I plug in my usb 3 memory stick or my 1T USB 3 hart drive. I get the message "This device will work faster with a USB 3 connection". I'm running Win XP, so better drivers should be available.

So far, I'm with others who say "Junk"

    Hello,

Thank you for your feedback and truly sorry to hear about your experience with PID 8089. This USB PCI-Express controller card uses Renesas Electronics drivers. I can email the latest driver to you if you would like. Also, would you happen to have your order number so that I may look further into the matter? Thanks in advance!

I think I found the problem. The supplied cable is too short, so I used a standard USB cable extension. Once I removed the extension, it is recognised as USB3. My question now is...Can I use a powered USB3 hub with no problems?

    by Monoprice Administrator
    Hello,

Glad to hear the issue with USB 3 recognition has been resolved! Yes, you may use a powered USB3 hub with PID 8089. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Forget the included CD-ROM

Pros: Seems to work okay now. I don't have the Molex plug connected my USB3 devices don't pull power from the USB port anyway but your mileage may vary of course.

Cons: Insanely bright blue LEDs on back which are always lit even if nothing is plugged in. The included CD-ROM is useless: the drivers on it don't work.

I had some major problems getting the drivers to work, I had the same "error 31" problems as others reported not just here but elsewhere too. The thing that finally fixed it was to simply download the latest driver at http://www.frescologic.com/support.php. My driver is version 3.6.4.0 dated 1/5/2015, and I'm running Windows 7 x64 on a Dell Optiplex 790 (Core i5-2400 @3.1GHz, C200(?) chipset)

    Pros: - Excellent Price.
    - Good Quality.
    - Speedy shipping and handling.

    Cons: - Missing driver CD.
    - Driver issues.
    - Support provided wrong drivers.

Like others posting reviews I had driver problems. My card did not ship with a driver CD so I contacted support and I was provided with Renesas Electronics drivers. These did not work and as it turned out my card is a Fresco Logic FL1009 USB 3.0 Host Controller. After installing the proper drivers it worked perfectly.
