Premium S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Cable, 10ft

Experience superb sonic clarity and accurate musical reproduction with this Premium S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Cable from Monoprice!

The Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format provides for a Digital Optical Audio signal, commonly referred to as Toslink. Toslink allows for the distribution of uncompressed 2-channel PCM audio or compressed multichannel audio, such as DTS® or Dolby® 5.1 or 7.1. Being an optical signal, Toslink is immune to problems that can plague electrical signals, such as crosstalk, magnetic interference, or radio frequency interference.

This premium cable features a full-sized Toslink connector on each end, with metal connector heads and a metal mesh jacket. The metal jacket helps protect the cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks, which could cause damage to the internal optical fiber.

    • Full-sized male Digital Optical Audio (Toslink) connectors at each end
    • Heavy duty premium, square metal connector heads
    • Mesh metal jacket protects cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks
    • 8.0mm outside diameter
    • Gold plated ferrule resists corrosion and provides maximum protection for the connector tip
    • Precision polished fiber tips for maximum signal transfer

Important! Because of the shape of the connector heads, this cable will not fit the Xbox 360 S "Slim" models, which are the smaller form-factor models released after June 14, 2010. For the Xbox 360 "Slim", please use one of our standard Toslink cables with molded connectors instead.

I have not had this cable for very long, but upon arrival I was extremely surprised on the build quality of this cable. I have this running along the floor behind my desk, and I have zero worries that I will kink/break/cut/etc this cable. The weakest point on this sort of setup is going to be the connection ports themselves on your devices. Definitely consider this cable.

    Really Fantastic Cable

Pros: Great construction quality and nice finish. Beautiful stereo sound with lossless sources. A must-have for music aficionados and audiophiles. Truly the ultimate interconnect from source to receiver for Dolby Digital/DTS sources as well. I listen to a lot of ripped 24/96 vinyl and 24/96 digital music as well as lossless CD rips and optical makes all the difference. HDMI overshadows it by offering nearly identical quality and more capabilities, but nothing beats the simplicity and zero noise floor optical offers. For stereo music nothing comes close.

Cons: Wish I'd gotten a longer one. Also, S/PDIF can't transport multichannel PCM or HD surround formats either direct or bitstream. So DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD are not options when running optical. I have to use DTS:Connect or Dolby Digital Live which gives me a compressed surround signal and reduces the quality of HD sources. Sounds perfect for older surround formats though and most people wouldn't know the difference with HD formats downsampled. Not ideal for home theater use anymore but the average joe wouldn't care. Home Theater audiophiles should use analog PCM or HDMI bitstream to get lossless from their HTPC or Blu-Ray player.

Awesome quality cable with premium connectors on the end. Totally amazing that these cables are so cheap. No other deal comes close and very few optical cables are as nice. Only very very expensive cables compare.

    Pros: Heavy Duty
    Well Constructed
Will probably last a very long time
    Great Price

Cons: Cable is rather thick and can be somewhat stiff wen trying to snake it around components.

This is definitely one heavy duty cable. the casing is thick, the connectors are metal . This baby is built to last and it works perfectly fine with my setup.

    Pros: Price, Quality, Selection.

    Cons: None

Great deal, I couldn't believe how much better the price was than the local well known Box Store even with shipping. And the Box store didn't even carry anything near the quality. I will definitely use MONOPRICE in the future.
