8inch SATA 15pin Female to Molex 4pin Male Power Adapter (90 Degree)

The Serial ATA standard provides for the adoption of a new 15-pin drive power connector, replacing the ubiquitous 4-pin Molex connector. However, existing system cases and power supplies may have an insufficient number of SATA power connectors, while still retaining the older Molex connectors.

This 8" adapter cable plugs into a 4-pin Molex power plug and provides a single 15-pin SATA 90-degree power connector.

Warning! The Molex connector provides only 5 and 12 VDC power. While many SATA drives only require these power levels, some require the additional 3.3 VDC power provided for in the SATA specification. Make sure your drive does not require 3.3 VDC before purchasing this adapter cable.

    Perfect for tight fitting cases.

    Pros: Great for tight fits

Cons: Wished they could have SATA connector SATA connector, instead of Molex to SATA.

Was constructing a Home Theater PC, and kept running into HDD and Optical drive power connectors hitting case parts or other components, these adapters were perfect for getting everything to fit in with out having to bend any wires.

Should've paid attention to the SATA's "L" direction

    Pros: Decent length.
    Cheap price.
    Good quality-to-price ratio.

Cons: SATA connector is "backwards." the "L" of the connector is in the opposite direction of what you might expect.
    Typically crappy Molex connector.

Why are we still using this crappy ancient molex connector for everything? Let there be a middle-man adapter for people with undying legacy concerns give the rest of us a good connector that doesn't pop its own pins out when you try and connect them.

These cables are fine for what I needed them for. I have a Corsair AX1200i PSU and have discovered that the modular cable that I was running my 3 hdds off of was weirding out. In retrospect I probably shouldn't have crimped the power connection so tightly, but I was winding things around the water hoses and was being lazy. Instead of paying out the nose for a replacement cable, I figured I would use the other spare that I had, which turned out to be an old-school Molex one instead of SATA. For some reason I didn't have any of these adapters lying around, even though normally I am drowning in such things.

I bought these because I figured I would run the power out the hole that the original cable was going through on the backplate of my case, but it turns out the L's of these SATA connectors are backwards from what you might expect. This forced me to run them across the tops of the drives and down through another hole. Luckily the stupid boutique D-Frame case I have has plenty of holes in the backplate, or I'd have been out of luck.

These have been powering my drives and I have had no more weirdness, which is a definite plus. Monoprice comes through again. :)
