1X2 PRO Series Powered HDMI® Splitter with 3D support (Rev. 2.0)

Watch your video content on two displays at the same time using this 1x2 HDMI® Splitter from Monoprice!

This splitter features an internal amplifier, which boosts the HDMI signal and allows the use of longer than normal HDMI cable runs. The one HDMI input and two HDMI output ports are gold-plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The splitter is powered by an included 5 VDC, 1A AC adapter.

The splitter supports High Speed HDMI signals, which means that it supports the following HDMI features:

    • 1080p Resolution - It supports the full 1080p@60Hz HDMI resolution.
    • 3D Video - It supports all standard HDMI 3D modes.
    • Deep Color - It supports deep color up to 12-bits per channel, 36-bits total.
    • High Definition Audio - It supports high-definition multi-channel audio signals, including Dolby TrueHD™ and DTS-HD Master Audio™.

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends using 22AWG, 24AWG, or active HDMI cables with Redmere technology to achieve the best results and to ensure minimum signal loss over longer distances.

Pros: These units just keep working. The splitters are always on. The source equipment and monitor get shut off after each use but when I power them up, they always hand-shake with the other equipment flawlessly.

    Cons: None.

This is the third of these splitters I've bought so far. I use them to split source signals to go to my two receivers. I have one to split my Blu-ray player, one to split my cable box and the most recent one to split my Roku player. The 70 inch monitor is on a wheeled stand with the receivers and source equipment to be viewed from either the dining room or living room. There is a 7.1 speaker set in each room powered by its own receiver. The pro series HDMI splitters just sit there and do their job, year after year.

I have purchased several of these and find them very good for the price. Tried a cheaper unit and it would not handle longer cable runs. Use with a surge protector. I learned the hard way.

    Pros: Easy to hookup
    Cheaper than some models

    Cons: none

Using it with a 50' Redmere cable and another short 24AWG cable and pictures are great.

    Pros: Works well and consistently

    Cons: none

I have a 60' run and a 30' run from this box which is stretching the limits for HDMI. This unit works well especially after calling customer service and taking their advice in placing this unit as close to the destination as possible.

Pros: Kinda of works. Seems well made.

Cons: One output is not reliable.

I've had this unit for 2 years. At higher resolutions, one of the outputs drops out and comes back. This has been the case since I got it. I thought maybe it was my display, but recently after reorganizing everything, I realized that the weakest link was the slitter.

    Hello,

Thank you for your review on PID 7522! Truly sorry to hear one of the outputs is not working correctly. If I may ask, can you describe to me your setup including all devices connected? What are the lengths and gauges (AWG) of the HDMI cables in use? Can we try swapping out the cable and display connected to output 2 to see if the issue persists? What about test the setup with a different source device (cable box, Bluray player, gaming console, etc.) just to further isolate what the issue may be? Also, do you happen to have the order number for this purchase? Please let me know so we can best assist you with this issue. My apologies for any inconvenience and thank you in advance!

I see, thank you for the additional information! The 28AWG cables may be the issue here, unfortunately. 28AWG cables work great for short, direct connections between source devices and a display. However, when using an HDMI splitter, we strongly recommend using 24AWG even for short distances. If running longer than 15ft, we recommend either using 22AWG HDMI cable or active cables with Redmere technology.

HDMI splitters tend to put a greater load on the signal passing through which can lead to handshaking issues similar to what you are experiencing currently. I have also seen cases where the signal fails to work at all (even at lower resolutions), there will be a video signal but no audio, or vice versa. Thicker or active cables would lower signal resistance and help compensate for this.

Between the DirecTV and splitter, I suggest using PID 3991 which is a 3ft 24AWG HDMI cable:
    http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=3991&rep=gab

PID 3991 can also be used between the splitter and the two TVs or we also offer active cables with Redmere technology which help boost the signal through a thinner, more flexible cable:
    http://www.monoprice.com/Category?c_id=102&cp_id=10255&cs_id=1025503&rep=gab

Please note that we do not recommend running Redmere cables in series between the source and splitter then from the splitter to the TVs as it may not work. It would be best to use a passive cable like PID 3991 between the source and splitter then only use Redmere between the splitter and TVs for the most reliable outcome.

My apologies for the trouble and I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything else that I can assist you with!
