    Fails repeatedly

Pros: When it works, it works great.

Cons: Short lifespan fails after 3 weeks.

2nd try, 2nd return. These units seem to last about 3 weeks before failing.

    Hello Bradley,

Thank you for your review, please keep in mind to keep your devices in a well ventilated area free from dust and debris. This will help the lifespan of the product and keep it from failing. I hope this helps, thank you!

    Useful, but unreliable

    Pros: Small size
No visual or audio quality degradation
Optical audio out is very useful

    Cons: HDMI Handshake issues

Does what is says on the description and allows switching between inputs.
However, when turning the TV off and then back on, I get HDMI handshake issues and no signal.
To fix it, I have to cycle power to the unit to reset it. This makes the remote useless because I have to physically get to the machine every time. The optical out is really useful though, since my speaker system only accepts one digital audio source.

    Compatibility issues

Pros: Good build quality, affordable, small and convenient footprint

Cons: Could not get our Dell PC to connect

While the switcher looked fine, was reasonably sturdy, and was affordably priced, I could not get our Dell PC (which we use in our conference room for web conferencing) to connect. It was connected with a DisplayPort to HDMI cable, and the PC never saw or connected to the external display. Every other device worked fine through it - an Apple TV, DVD player, and HDMI cable for a laptop.

We ended up returning it and purchasing the Blackbird 4K 5x1 switcher from Monoprice, and that one has worked fine.

    HDMI switcher for pcm audio

    Pros: Works great

    Cons: LED lights are annoying

Bought this so I could hijack the pcm audio signal from hdmi to send it to my dac. No other way to do this due to copyright rules. Now I can play SACD at hi rez through an outboard dac. It's a really good product for the money. Only negative is you have to hide it as the led lights are so wickedly bright it's super annoying.

Pros: The box work great. compacts all of those toslink cables into one and saves hdmi inputs on my tv.

Cons: DTS-HD Master Audio does not work on this box, yes the specs say it does but you will get no sound at all from it using this box.

The box works for DTS Digital, Dolby Digital, Dolby True HD but the problem started when I put in a blue ray disc that had DTS-HD Master Audio I had no audio, now if I switched it to the Spanish digital audio then it worked fine. So this box does not work with Dts hd ma. I am lucky I dont get rid of anything that has to do with audio and I still had my single digital box and that work with out any problem. The only other problem I have had is that going from cable box to on demand it will stall out and the tv will go black. Now I am not sure that it all the box's fault because the cable box does have its problems. Yes so the box does work but with on flaw DTS-HD Master Audio does not wok. First time I have ever had a problem with a Monoprice product but this one does have some flaws in it. Yes I am running redmere cables so that would not be the problem. All are 6 foot long. thanks.
